i think toronto is best off getting rid of ford now whilst he still has some value especially with calderon emerging like he did. i think calderon is a real dope point guard personnaly, he can hit the jumpshot and his running of the offece is impeccable.

but at the same time i feel toronto can get a better trade than this. JO aint proved shit even in his "glory" years. plus his esentially the same player as bosh, both big guys who'd prefer the 15ft jay then a bit of contact in the paint. we have just seen in the boston lakers series how important it is too have a few big guys who can "bang".

i think bargani has been a real disappointment so far. if he was livng up to potential then toronto would be in a much better posistion.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Huh? Garnett is also a jump shooting big...I see what you mean, though. Boston was more physical, but their big guys don't really define "bang"...LOL.

I dunno about this trade.

If it was Rasho and Ford only, I wouldn't mind doing it despite JO's injury problems.
But the draft pick seems a bit much.
Plus, Rasho played pretty nicely for us when Bosh was hurt this past season.

I think we can use Delfino at the point as well; he seemed alright last year when they played him at the position.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

They'd be doing good to get J Oneal for Ford. Its not like Ford doesn't have a history of serious injuries. Tor needs to just get rid of him while he has value. They cant keep both him and Calderon and have both of them be happy with their situation. Backup pg won't be much of a concern after draft day as they are likely to grab Augustin with their pick.

His injuries have been off of freak accidents, not cuz he is injury prone ala JO.

If I'm understanding his situation correctly, he has a pre existing spinal chord condition (spinal stenosis or something like that) which makes him prone to these freak accidents and in fact he is actually running a HUGE risk of permanently paralyzing himself by playing in the NBA. The Raps would be doing great in this deal. A team taking on Ford is accepting a ton of risk.

Yeah, I wouldn;t mind if it was just Rasho and Ford for O'Neal.
I think including the draft pick isn't a good idea though.

Source: Toronto-Indiana deal off

Talks between the Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers about a trade that would have included Jermaine O’Neal and T.J. Ford fell apart on Monday afternoon, a league executive with knowledge of the negotiations said.

For the past two days, Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo had been pushing the idea of sending Ford, Rasho Nesterovic and the No. 17 pick in Thursday’s draft for O’Neal. For a few hours on Monday, there was a sense that the deal was close, but ultimately concerns over the damaged state of O’Neal and Ford were too much to consummate the trade.

The Pacers were concerned about Ford’s future with his past neck injuries, but were willing to start rebuilding without O’Neal and the $44 million owed him over the next two years. O’Neal played just 42 games a year ago, because of a left knee injury.

The trade would have given Indiana the 11th and 17th picks in the draft, allowing Indiana to take a point guard and a forward. The Raptors have been one of the league’s most active teams in trying to move up in the draft, and they’ve made no secret about their desire to move Ford and make restricted free agent Jose Calderon the point guard of the future.
