Frank Lampard agrees to rejoin Mourinho at Inter Milan
« on: June 28, 2008, 07:31:09 AM »
Frank Lampard is close to sealing a megabucks deal to join Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.

The Chelsea midfielder had talks with the Italian giants yesterday and has agreed in principle to a four year deal worth £6million a year.

Chelsea can expect to receive a transfer fee in the region of £7m for the 30-year-old, who has one year left on his contract.

Talks between Lampard and Milan will continue today but the player has told friends that, barring a last-minute hitch, he will join the Serie A champions.

He would be reunited with former Blues boss Mourinho, who took over at the San Siro last month.

Lampard and Mourinho enjoyed a close relationship at Stamford Bridge, where they won league titles in 2004-05 and 2005-06, as well as the FA Cup and League Cup .

Lampard has scored more than 100 goals for Chelsea since 2001.

Its a good move for chelsea to sell him, as it may strengthen Chelsea as they can now play essien and ballack together plus the possibility of deco.

lol dont worry, it was just at one point it seemed like every shot he had either went over a got a deflection and went in.

He has his plus points, he has a knack of arriving late in the box and the ball falling to him. he also has a good shot and gets up and down the pitch really well, just dont expect loads of skill from him.

He is a  very good player but not an exceptional one, when he isnt scoring you do wonder what is he actually contributing to the team.

lol yeah def one of my favs, straight to the point.

As for Lampard , mourinho is now saying he doesnt expect him to join till next year

This season? I don't think so," Mourinho told Portuguese TV channel TVI.

"Why won't he? Well, it's not because we don't want him to, but I'm sure Chelsea and Chelsea's officials don't want to sell him.

"However, for the next season it will be easier for him to join me at Inter.

"I'm 100 per cent sure in 2009/2010 he will be playing here."

Exclusive: Inter Milan say £7m Frank Lampard deal is done
Inter Milan last night claimed to have struck a £7m deal for Frank Lampard.

The Italian giants say they have reached agreement with Lampard and Chelsea for the midfielder.

It comes just 24 hours after the Blues signed Portugal star Deco, 31, from Barcelona in a £7.9m deal.

Lampard, 30, has been offered a four-year deal worth £24m in total - and the chance to play abroad and link up again with Jose Mourinho at Inter has proved difficult to resist.

Club president Massimo Moratti has yet to announce Lampard's capture publicly.

But privately Inter say the deal is done and that the England star will be unveiled at the San Siro once he returns from holiday in Sicily at the end of this week.

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari wants to follow up the Deco deal with a £10m move for Real Madrid's Robinho, according to the Brazilian superstar's agent Vagner Ribeiro.

"It is true that Chelsea are interested in signing Robinho," said Ribeiro.

"They have been for some time, and that interest has become much stronger since Scolari took over as their new manager.

"I have met with Chelsea's sporting director Frank Arnesen in London and he confirmed to me that they want the player for next season.

"Neither Robinho nor myself like that Real are prepared to use him as part of an exchange in their bid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We do not understand this attitude and we want them to begin to value Robinho - because they are not at the moment.

"Robinho is as good, if not better than Ronaldo. The only difference is that Ronaldo reached the Champions League Final and Robinho did not.

"Robinho's priority is to stay with Real, but he cannot be in a place where he is not valued and for the time being he is not. I'm not talking about money.

"I refer to the fact that he is being undervalued in comparison to Ronaldo."
