Only 2 Dutch players How is Zhirkov better than Boulahrouz?

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Iker Casillas (Spain), Edwin van der Sar (Netherlands).

Defenders: Bosingwa (Portugal), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Carlos Marchena (Spain), Pepe (Portugal), Carles Puyol (Spain), Yuri Zhirkov (Russia).

Midfielders: Hamit Altıntop (Turkey), Luka Modrić (Croatia), Marcos Senna (Spain), Xavi Hernández (Spain), Konstantin Zyryanov (Russia), Michael Ballack (Germany), Cesc Fŕbregas (Spain), Andrés Iniesta (Spain), Lukas Podolski (Germany), Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands).

Forwards: Andrei Arshavin (Russia), Roman Pavlyuchenko (Russia), Fernando Torres (Spain), David Villa (Spain).

Xavi would be an option, his little buddy Iniesta was great as well. Barça, bitch. Fabregas is definitely bench player of the tournament.

As for goalkeepers, I'd bench Buffon and make Casillas my no. 1. I don't remember one stupid mistake from him in six games, he was amazing. Buffon might still be the greatest out there, and he had that save that kept Italy in the tournament, but he wasn't as brillant as he used to be somehow, no impossible saves from him this time. VDS is definitely good, but not as consistent and reliable as Casillas.

Defenders: I like Lahm, but he looked bad in the last two games in terms of defensive work and his offensive actions don't always make up for that. Bosingwa and Pepe were good except for the Germany game, but that's really the one that fucked it all up. Marchena and Puyol I agree with, and Zhirkov is one of the top players in that position that I only discovered during this tournament.

Midfielders: I agree mostly here, although you could name a few others, too. Podolski was better as a forward in this tournament IMO, his midfielding skills are overshadowed by having scored three goals. He belongs in that top team though, Ballack is a different issue, he played a weak tournament, yes I dislike him, but really, what did he really come up with except for the free kick against Austria?

Forwards: Arshavin and Villa, yes, Pavlyuchenko and Torres maybe. It wouldn't have been Torres' tournament except he ended up scoring its most important goal.

I don't know if you've seen Netherlands-France? He saved our ass plenty of times, lol

I can live with Casillas being the #1 though, with Van der Sar as the #2. Casillas won the tournament after all :)

Oh hell yeah, I've seen that one, one of my favorite games of the whole tournament. All I'm saying is he's not as consistent, in a good moment he's on a par with Casillas, no doubt, but you almost never see Casillas fuck up or look bad. VDS is awesome usually, but he screws up every now and then

Yeh, he impressed me.. dissappointing he didnt get recognised. I also liked the look of Orlando Engelaar, he seemed a decent player.. havent heard much about him before.
