Let's talk Fantasy Football Draft strategies...
« on: August 12, 2008, 04:38:41 AM »
Well I'm quasi pissed because one of my leagues (the one I want to win most) is having our draft this sunday and the preseason isn't even over yet.  So my luck, my first rounder will blow an ACL in the final game and that will be that.

Having said that, how are yall looking to draft this year?  I have the #1 overall pick this year and I gotta get my mind right. I guess Tomlinson is still #1 overall, but what about after that?

gotta go with Westbrook, i know the sexy pick is AP, but Westbrook is still a lil safer..Just remember Chester Taylor, i still dont see AP taking on a 100 percent load, just yet...Westbrook is the #1 weapon in Philly and is macnabbs safety blanket, he was 2nd in fantasy points behind LDT last year..
Brady of course along with Romo and Manning are next..THen you got AP, Gore, Jackson, Lynch, Grant, Roth, Brees, Palmer, Addai,Anderson, Hasslebeck,

all guys that should be at the top of youre board...^^^

Santonio Holmes, Chris Johnson, Crumpler (huge year imo, back to his 05 ways), Rodgers,

it all depends how big your league is.

Usually...having 2 good RB's can save your season.

Honestly...i usually go for the TWO best RB's around for my first two picks...becuase i usually get fucked by Rb injuries (main reason I lost last year)

RB, RB, WR, Best Available, Best Available...thats my strat lol.

I dont give a fuck about Payton Manning or Tom Brady. Because if you're smart...you can get a good QB in the 4th and 5th..ALWAYS. While fools who drafted Tom Brady are sweating becuase they dont have two good RB's or a good WR

it really depends on youre league, cuz in my league we do AUCTION STYLE and our Qb's are just as if not more important then RB's, becuz we have our own scoring system

I wish I had a league that did auction. I got a baseball league that does auction style. all the football leagues do the draft thing.

and yea it depends on your league. Especially if its a keeper league.

id say LT at #1 is a no brainer. This year though, after LT....the running back position is really hard to judge. Youre probably gonna get the 16th or 20th pick (depending on your league size) after your first. I doubt Manning or Brady will be around anyways. If youre LUCKY and one of them is, take them. If you dont see any other solid backs, either take a strong receiver....or pick up another good starting QB with your next pick which would be 17 or 21. You can use him as trade bait.

so much luck goes into it. like last year i took Steven Jackson, and he was a bust outta hell. my boys first two picks were Brady & then Moss and he beasted. we laughed at first, but then it worked out mad nicely. my strategy for this year is to pray for the #1 pick & get LT lol. as far as QB's goes...Brady & Peyton are safe picks. not feelin the same #'s out of Moss again this year, so i'd think twice about my WR before i rushed into picking Randy.

LT should go first. But dont be surprised if he has a little tougher year this year with no Lorenzo Neal.

I fucked up by drafting two QB's. I thought my leauge started 2 a week. Had I known, I would of drafted a RB.
Here's what my team looks like.

QB Peyton Manning
RB Darren McFadden
RB Lendale White
WR Randy Moss
WR Lee Evans
WR Vincent Jackson
TE Todd Heap
K Nate Kaeding
DST Chargers

Reserves:
QB Philip Rivers
RB Warrick Dunn
RB DeAngelo Williams
WR Bryant Johnson
WR Derrick Mason

decent. You dont really have a stud at RB though. Lendale White might have a pretty good year. But even though Im a Raider fan, i dunno about Mcfadden. He's gonna be good, no doubt. But he'll be splitting a lotta playing time with Fargas and Bush.
