Detox Iz Not Active

first off, Angle is a real dope track

so I decided to check out the sample behind the track and Kanye did almost NOTHING to the beat, just copied 99% of it and looped it.  Nigga did nothing creatively just slapped his name on someone's creative work and called it a day

he added a few small details, but what did he really do?  Just chose someone else dope beat and remaster it?

Ehh........

It's a hard debate. In a way, it's like yeah, why change perfection...but then, it's like damm...some songs will really just take a simple loop and change like 5-10% of it, and everyone talks about how great of a producer they are...while others spend countless hours to perfect beats they created.

A LOT of songs are like this....this isn't the same. Cube's "It was a good day" is a COMPLETE loop from the Isleys, and the only thing added was the female's voice on there. Kanye also "produced" the "Summertime" song on 213, which was a complete loop from one of the Jacksons that he just sped up a bit.

I do think it's a bit suspect...sampling can be a very creative art, but sometimes, I feel like fans and even other producers give TOO MUCH credit when the producer didn't do shit but loop part of a song that someone spent hours on mixing, recording, and paying real musicians to play.

man that ain;t nothing new to hip-hop.Audio Two really did almost NOTHING to Curtis' Freddie's Dead on Many Styles (1988), and it's still a classic song from one of the 80's best hip-hop duos

and btw that ANgel Dust song is amazingg. That's the 3rd Gil Scott song I've heard so far, and I've really been quite fond of his music.
