Here We Go Again....
« on: September 04, 2008, 10:12:45 PM »
Ok, yes this is another Game Post regarding his new LAX album.  However Im not here to hype nor dismiss the album simply giving you my story. So let's face it not even hitting 300K is a flop saleswise. Personally to me the album is untouchable. But sticking to my word.  I been going through some financial problems (My girl lost her job, Gas, electricity, cable, phone all got DC.) And I'm finally catching up to shit. So I hit the Glendale mall today and I hit target, on my way to purchase LAX. So I look through their new release section, I see Raw Footage, Slipknot, LLoyd, and Jonas Brothas I believe, but no Game. I go to the RAP section, and I fail to find it again. So I ask one of the associates there, and dude has no idea what I'm talking about. He was like GAME has a new album. Apparently I was looking at the wrong place.  It bugged me to think that Game's album was nowhere to be found at TARGET! FUck it, so I told my girl lets hit up Best Buy, I need to get LAX today, dont wanna spend my money on something else (The Chron Chron; I'm trying to quit) so we head out to Best Buy. So again I look through the new release section and I fail to find it again. I catch some bitch in a a blue shirt and I straight up told her "Dont tell me you dont have Game's CD either?  She goes, let me check, She came back a first time and was like, It's not here but hold on let me check in the back. She comes back with the CD. I was astonished that I had to go through what I did to find the Game's CD. Call me what you want, but In my opinion, this may have some effect on his album sales. Granted, it was only 2 locations, but the simple fact that the CD wasnt on the shelves like it should of been does affect his sales. I go to school for marketing. And we study the importance of display. A display is targeted towards impulse buyers. I myself have bought shit out of impulse, shit I almost bought the Jeezy CD today out of impulse and cuz of the mission I went through to get a niggas CD. I know Im going out on a stretch, but if it affected me, it could of affected others. Just my 2 cents. I'm not trying to say Game would of sold A milli otherwise, again just droppin my 2 cents. I got my shit now, been bumpin it the whole day. Bumped it so much my girl knows the words to some songs already! And before I get kids on here dissin my topic, I came in here as a fan of music, hip hop in particular. Simply sharing my story!

real talk distribution afflicts sales to many rappers these days, when you see a nigga like for example rza sell like 4k copies its not that people dont wanna buy his shit it might be that they can't even find it, i had to go what you went through to cop that Killer Mike I Pledge Allegience to Tha Grind pt. 2 aswell...

Dubb Union's album was like that for me. They just had it sitting in the back in boxes at Best Buy and did not put it out.

Yeah, that's not the business! When record company's secure shelf space for releases,(for optimal rack placement,it's anywhere from 250-to 600 a store) It's fucked up when the stores sales staff don't do there job and properly merchandise the shit. they use to have label merchandisers go to retail and check on this stuff, but I guess they phased that out too.
