His elbow is shot... hurts the Mets during the stretch run but it wont hurt if they make the playoffs b/c Billy makes Armando Benitez look like Mo Rivera come playoff time.

The five-time All-Star has been out since Aug. 3 and the Mets said Monday that he has a torn medial collateral ligament in his left elbow and a torn flexor pronator, which is a muscle in the forearm. The 37-year-old left-hander will have surgery later this week.

"The tear is now big enough that the doctors are recommending so-called Tommy John surgery," Mets general manager Omar Minaya said.

You were spoiled with Mo.  You have no idea how frustrating it is to have a huge game locked up and your big name closer blows it.  I still hope Amando Benitez gets AIDS for blowing game 1 in 2000.  Or not being able to nail down game 6 in the NLCS.  Or in 2001 not nailing down a game that was a potential sweep against Atlanta in late September that would of put the Mets a game and a half back of Atlanta
