Anybody who's familiar with DJ Quik should have heard the name Stan Sheppard before. The industry veteran teamed up with Tony Lane years ago to form the label Sheppard Lane, managed and worked closely with DJ Quik, Mausberg, Suga Free and the rest of the crew for about 6 years.

As many of you know, the relationship ended a few years back and it seemed as if Stan Sheppard had dissapeared for good. He has now reached out to us to talk about his newly formed label called Peaceful/Tonestruck Ent, with which he's hoping to give West Coast and Mid-West artists new opportunities.

His first project is entitled "Bangin'... Pain, Pride & Destruction" and will raise funds for the national anti-gang organization "Unity One". The compilation features all new original music from Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Lil Wayne, Akon, Kurupt and DJ Battlecat to name a few.

Stan Sheppard is also closely involved with Battlecat's upcoming album, as well as his mixtape "Turntable Journalism", which we announced on dubcnn a few weeks back. The mixtape will feature new music from WC, Kurupt, Crooked I, Eastwood, Bad Lucc, Mykestro, Hot Box, Nile and G-Sinatra amongst others.

Be on the look out for the interview with Stan Sheppard coming to dubcnn soon where we talk about all these projects, as well as the tribute album for the Martin Luther King Foundation, which will be released through his label. Of course, we will also speak about his six years managing DJ Quik and why he disbanded the successful Sheppard Lane Records. Stay tuned!
