NLCS - Dodgers vs Phillies
« on: October 06, 2008, 01:10:40 PM »
who do you like?

obviously i like the dodgers...

i think we have the best pitching in the NL..well..that ones actually a fact...and you know the saying, 'pitching wins titles'.  our hitting is good right now..but not all that it could be.  we have a couple of guys slumping in october..even though loney has come through for us with some clutch hits, he only has 3 hits.  ethier only has 1 hit!!  if ethier gets hot, and loney gets more consistent, then we will be unstoppable.  we have everything working for us right now.  the long ball AND the small ball. hit n runs, bunt for singles with the bases loaded...and NO stolen bases!  with speedsters like furcal, martin, kemp, look for that to change starting on thursday.

and out pitching...lights out.  LIGHTS OUT.

Dodgers in 6.

Even though Ethier had 1 hit, he also has 4 walks to give himself an OBP of 357, tied with Martin.  And part of the reason why Loney was able to drive in so many runs.

someone will win it in 6

I know the Dodgers will be cool at home, just concerned about Citizens Bank

it's all up the pitching to keep whatever offense we get in the game

then again, every game against the Cubs they scored within 3 innings so maybe that helped the pitching more

as long as our pitching stays tight i don't see us losing. i'm not concerned with lowe or billingsley but kuroda sure does worry me, kershaw is still suspect to me as well.

kuroda needs to do what he did in game 3.  he has been inconsistent all year, and now is not the time for 'batting practice kuroda' to show up.  i think he will be fine though..our pen is simply amazing, in case he gets into trouble.

kershaw does worry me a bit too, but not as much as maddux.  one of these two is gonna start one of the LCS games..does torre go with the inexperienced kershaw, who has been great his last few starts..or does he go with the experienced maddux, who has been very inconsistent since we traded for him?  if maddux is on, he is still lights out..if he is off..well, you know what happenes.

torre could also do a platoon start, have one of em go 4 innings, and the other one, the other 4, with saito or broxton closing it out..

according to the LA Times, the job Broxton did Saturday (and what Saito did Thursday) may have earned him the closer role...

broxton reached 101MPH on saturday!!

idk if it was our regular speed gun (for some reason our gun adds 2mph), if it was, then it was only 99mph.

I've heard Vin Scully say a few times that the guns are a few mph than it really is

yeah, idk why they didnt change the gun..maybe some sort of rule that they cant change radar guns mid-season.  i find it funny when a visiting teams broadcaster call the game, and dont know that lil fact, get all excited when brox reaches '100-101'.
