i've always thought of culture as a way of doing things, or maybe a widely accepted way of doing things.
i think in a sense the traditions passed from generation to generation maybe cause people to do things because they seem normal, other things such as rituals are consciously celebrated to acknowledge ones culture.

The question was easy to understand, and the answer is suppose to be no.
BUT, this is not the case in practice. There are certain things that each culture puts in you that becomes unquestioned. In American culture, since it's so diverse then it's harder to pin point, but cultures around the world are influenced in one way or another. In most cultures (culture=beliefs, art, writings, institutions) the dominate source of things that go unquestioned is religion. For generations, religion is ingrained in a culture, and this causes many cultures to hold certain beliefs. Even in more resent culture, were religion is not as dominate, there are certain things that go unchallenged in that culture. So without thinking, people just do.
In American inner city culture, there is a rule, no snitching, and no one knows why, but it is. That comes from fear, old drug dealers and gang members installed fear into the communities, so that if you told the police what they are doing, the gang would get you, even if your not gang related. It was fear, not respect or any other glamorized bullshit Hip-Hop feeds you that started no snitching.
For older cultures, you just have to look at regions like the Middle East, were to go without a head dress for a woman is a sign of being a whore. Now the head dress actually comes from living in the dessert, it's protection from the heat and sand, but it was morphed into something much more. In Christian civilizations, since Christianity was in many cases spread to regions that had established religions, to be of another religion is to be a witch. The witch is actually Wicca, an old English religion that's very earthy, for lack of a better term. We get Christmas trees from the Wicca, (what you thought Evergreens grew in the dessert?) so we took their tree, and prosecuted them
So culture is not suppose to be about just doing without thinking, but it has turned into that.
