Cypress Hill Sued Over 1993 Album Black Sunday
« on: October 17, 2008, 03:23:05 PM »
Recent VH1 Hip-Hop Honorees Cypress Hill are being sued by Syl Johnson for $29 million dollars for allegedly lifting his music, according to TMZ.

The California group’s 1993 album Black Sunday included the track “Lock Down,” an interlude on the LP. In Johnson’s suit, he claims Cypress used his “Is It Because I’m Black” for the production. Several record labels and publishing companies were also included in the suit.

Gym Class Heroes, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, and Fat Joe honored CP at the 5th annual VH1 Hip-Hop Honors ceremony earlier this month. —Nino “Dubs” DeLuca
