I bet Iverson's thanking god that he's out of the West. Great trade overall for Denver. Detroit obviously needed to do something after getting eliminated over and over but it's too bad for them that they had to get rid of Chauncey since he was definitely the floor leader, imo shipping Rip would have been a better decision. Either way Iverson is still a hell of a player and can definitely make a positive contribution if he learn his role and fit in well with the Pistons. They're starting looks dope as fuck minus the center position.

Iverson
Hamilton
Prince
Wallace
Kwame (?) I suppose they could also play Maxiel at Forward and play Wallace at center..

Melo's made a lot of stupid decisions but there's no denying his talent. Dude's got a pretty complete package. I think you'll be surprised to see how well Melo works with Billups who is more of a distributor than AI.

Crazy trade...but Detroit knew they were going nowhere with the same ol' squad and are lookin about ready to develop Stuckey. Nuggets improved through the trade, Detroit just put more people in the seats. I wouldn't say Detroit declined, because Iverson is a great player and if he buys into the sytsem, Detroit will easily contend in the east. Denver, however, just got an amazing deal on their part...it was obvious that both Melo and AI were too ball dominant to win anything together, so adding Billups, a pass first player, will definitely boost them up a notch...PeACe

Yes.

WOW at getting home to this :o  GREAT trade for Denver, the pairing of Billups and Melo will work 10x better than it ever did with AI/Melo. WTF at the Pistons; I guess there going to switch up the style of play but I don't see this workin out very well for them.

McDyess was supposed to be the young franchise Nuggets player back in the day and now he's coming back to them as a seasoned vet - and Billups is consistently good and sometimes superb.

A steal for the Nuggets.
Mcdyess is a nice addition but Billups is the big 1

Obviously Billups is the big 1, but McDyess is one of the best veterans out there, he can defend, he has floor leadership, and he'll improved Denver dramatically.
That's the trade of the year for Denver, by far.

Don't get too hyped up over this. It is still unclear if McDyess will even play for this franchise. He isn't thrilled to. Maybe he was just put in to make the numbers work.

It's not as bad of a trade for Detroit as yall niggas act. I'm excited to see if Melo fails again. He's been such a disappointment.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more

And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

People are over-rating Billups.....i just don't see how this is a good trade for the Nuggets......Pistons got the better end of the Deal.....+ they'll get McDyess Back after the Nugs Buy him Out..

I still think Detroit is gonna do some damage in the east....Crazy trade!  Denver must be pretty pumped, but I dont see them getting any further in the west than 7th or 8th seed.

i think its a pretty good trade for Detroit.

they can develop players like Stuckey, Johnson and Maxiell now and still be contenders.
plus they've free up cap space.

I kinda like the trade for both teams. I like the trade on the pistons part because they've gotten the scorer they've long craved but also the pistons where in need of a change. Stuckey is definatley ready for his time to shine, so in a way billups became expendable. Also if the trade dosent pan out for them both iverson and sheed are off the salary cap which would make them 21million under the cap this ummer. Theres some real interesting players like boozer becoming a free agent this year or of course they could wait till 2010 when lebron etc hit the market (wouldnt it be ironic if they got melo as a free agent).

I think the pistons are pretty high on there two forwards Maxiell and Johnson as well, so if they do descide to let sheed leave as a free agent im sure one of these two could step in and fill the voide. When all is said and done i think the pistons is an organisation that is run really well, there always a step ahead of what could happen down the line.

On this nuggets side of things obviousley theyve improved overall as Billups is the steady hand they need, also J.R. Smith can take on more responsibility now as well and could even start. One thing i don't like on the nuggets part is that billups has 4 years to run on his contract and he is a year older than iverson.

Yeah, Billups has a huge contract. The thing i don't understand about those NBA teams is that they made too many changes. Just watch the Lakers: they didn't change shit for 2 years, they they had the chance to do a very good trade for them and they did it. Other teams tend to change 5-10 players per year, making those huge trades just to change something. You don't win a ring this way, imho. Anyway.. we will see.

^^ yep i totally agree. consistency is everything in sports especially basketball but the same is true for football (soccer). I think denver should of made this trade when they still had camby i dont think it makes much sense to do it now, the nuggs arent going anywhere in the western conference with the lakers and hornets even if they have billups. I mean san antonio and detroit have been the most consistent teams over the past 5 years due to the lineup only being tweaked slightly each year. But of course if your not winning then you need to do "something".

Lakers have been consistent too (do you remember people dissing Mitch for not making trades?). That's why they are on top. They had the opportunity to do an extremely good trade, and they did it. They waited for it till Kobe requesting to be traded. And only when they had the perfect trade on the desk, they did it.

Nuggets acquired Allen Iverson in 2006. Less than 2 years later they've already trade him. It doesn't work like that.
