Why do rappers release bonus tracks for iTunes, UK and Japan?
« on: November 03, 2008, 11:02:41 AM »
For example Redman, he put out the best track from ''Red Gone Wild'' - ''Fuck The Security'' only as the UK Bonus Track.

It should be the main single off the album IMO!

It's not the only case.

If you complain about payin' double, in my country, we pay triple.

No shit, 500 CZK [amount of newly released CD] was around $33, when dollar was low couple months ago. But I ain't a moron and I buy music from US stores.

It gives people that dont know the artist very well because they dont have Rap City, BET... in their country to recognise and become a bigger fan of the artist. Without the internet I doubt any of these German, French... dudes would even know who Bishop Lamont or Malone is. Thats why the artist has to reach out harder to get these international dudes attention and create a much bigger fanbase. The sales internationally make a huge difference and matter alot more.

It's a decision made by the record companies to stop UK/European shops importing the US versions and selling them instead. If there's a 'UK' version of the album, it prohibits the big chains (HMV etc) from importing the US version for sale (which can often be cheaper for the shops to do given the exchange rate, even though that isn't passed onto the customer).
