Its sad when..
« on: November 16, 2008, 01:09:44 AM »
Us fans look more for the production credits of an album then the features or what the artists has done on the album.

I see way too many times and I do it myself sometimes where I'll check out an album solely on the fact that my favorite producer made a track on it.  I may end up liking the album in the long run but only because I checked it out first for a Dae One beat or a JRK beat etc..

It's natural to do that. I do it alot if it is a collabo between 2 artists that I never knew worked with each other before. But as far as letting it affect me or influence me from listening to the whole album, nah.

So your saying that you've never heard say a new Snoop album is coming out and you or someone else is like.. hey who's producing.. or is Quik on that?

I seem to see or hear more people interested in the producers now days then features.  Do they have a Dre track, Storch track etc..

Nah when you put it like that, I say ok cool Snoop is dropping a album. Once I get it, then I would look to see who he worked with and even then I still give the music a chance and listen to it before formulating a opinion.

why is it sad??? producers r part of hip hop too and if they dope and r gonna be on a...example snoop album, i'll check for producers first..the only reason i bought that snoop paid the cost to be the boss was because i heard primo was gonna make some beats for it...and he did, the best track on there...to me......so yea i find my self sayin that alot...but then again i'm a producer myself..lol...

Producers were underrated at the time, people didn't care, they wanted dope beat and they weren't interested no more. I'm glad to see a lot of people cares about the production credits, it's alright!
It's funky enough!

Producers aren't what they used to be anymore though. A real producer works with the artist in the studio. These days J.R. e-mails a beat to 50 Cent and then 50 and the engineer record the track in the studio.

Yeah, this is weak, you're right. It ain't got right energy. But the music which I listen to: Madvillain (MF Doom & Madlib), Blaqkout project (I hope I will), Atmosphere (Slug & Ant) and a lot of more, I think they aren't into some email shit. I know that both Doom & Madlib were locked up in the studio, when they were makin' that album. I see some photos from their session.

But you're right that a lot of folks are lazy as fuck and do this email shit, which is worse than the case 1 of course.
It's funky enough!

I actually don't give a shit who does the production, I just care that the production is good. I hate features, I think an artist should know how to pull his own weight and stop thinkins music will be special because he puts Lil Wayne, Akon or T-Pain on it because it just makes their songs sound like everyone elses.

Bless you... I do the same thing. Especially with newer artists I tend to look for production value before I purchase or download (mixtapes)....

we have been conditioned to do so, but i love to find music i can appreciate without being familiar with the artist or producers, that makes for a great listening experience to me, there is nothing like being shocked into liking something, i mean like having to say that's tight who is that? and when you hear the name it still doesnt ring a bell

The producers are half the album... therefore they should be given half the attention.

the producers may be more than half the album just like producers of tv shows but credit isnt alway divided up in that manner when you have a collective group with different tasks working toward a common goal, artist are intended to shine and the producers work is there to help them do so, producers are or should be more concearned about the fair pay than the credit, although i understand everyone wanting to be noticed for their input
