was signing Vujacic a mistake?
« on: December 10, 2008, 04:34:44 PM »
I don't really have any feelings about whether or not it's a mistake, I'm just curious what people think

this thread is inspired by the fact that it seems when he comes in the game it's a disaster

he gets the inbound and shoots off like a loose cannon, fucking up any kind of offensive strategy

he seems to immediately get trapped in the corner (also on defense he plays way too close to the guy with the ball, always gets burned)

every time he makes a pass I cringe, he makes the worst passes I've ever seen sometimes

throwing it like a girl when someone's licking their chops locked in on the ball

this guy is responsible for turning the ball over every other possession he gets a touch

also Phil Jackson says he's trying to score too much and taking crappy shots, needs to think team first basketball

It was only a 3 year deal, so I don't think the contract was too bad, but Vujacic needs to step it up. But he is not the main reason for the Lakers subpar play.
Fuckin' contract year. >:(

I know, it's just that his mistakes stand out so much when he makes them

when I watch the games it's unbelievable when he fucks up, he definitely makes the most bonehead plays

Yes
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Too soon to say. Ariza is taking a lot of his minutes plus he started the season with an ankle injury.

Either way atleast we didn't give him a Luke Walton type contract.

Lakers have been fucked over by contract year niggas

Maybe that's why Phil Jackson shits on Odom so Mitch won't give him a 6-year, 80 million extension

Mistake? How? We gave him a bitchmade contract and he wanted DOUBLE what he got...it's way too early into the season to judge the situation and he's only averaging 14 minutes per game as of now...PeACe

There are a few reasons why Sasha is playing less minutes than his career average this year, mostly during garbage time or in special situations only. The main one is that he's the kind of player who takes a shot at his very first possession of the ball, expecially after a screen or a backdoor. He's aggressive, maybe too much, but sometimes (expecially this year) Lakers needs/want to control the tempo of the game and to play 24 seconds (Playoff style) instead of having those quick shots who puts the game in a "who scores more win" situation. So Phil is using him just when he wants the Lakers to increase the tempo of the game and he needs them quick shots. If you check stats, Sasha is the player who takes more shots per minute in the Lakers other than mr. Bryant himself. So it's impossible for Jackson to use him more than 14-15 minutes per game (and to use him when our offensive weapons are already on the floor at that moment). The other reason is that Radmanovic is probably the most improved player in the team imho (he stepped up defensively), Ariza is finally playing up to his potential, and Farmar is also confirming his progress. There's no room for Sasha other than playing in particular situations. And when you have to force things and to play under this pressure, going always to the max shooting after 10-12 seconds of possession and at the same time you have a big contract with his shadow that follows you, you are not relaxed and you don't play like you did in the past. I think last year he felt he was important for the team. This year he's not. Talking about the contract, we gave him the contract he probably deserved at the moment he signed it. I mean last year he was our 3rd offensive weapon in most of the games, and he won by himself a couple of them, shooting .437 from the long range. I'm not a fan of him (even tho' he improved dramatically since his rookie year), but you gotta respect his jumpshot.

i think every team in the league would like sasha being there 9th guy off the bench, no team in the nba has a team like there lakers wehere sasha is the 9th guy in the rotation.
