Marco Belinelli
« on: December 20, 2008, 03:25:06 AM »
I just wanted to make a topic about this (italian) player, cause i think he's a real skilled PG/SG (i talked about him back in his draft days..). In the last week he's finally getting enought playing time to show his real potential.

In the last 5 games he's averaging 15.4 points in 28 minutes, shooting .400% from 3pts and .500% from 2pts. Plus 3 assists per game and 3.6 rebounds.

Not bad, uh? ;)

Nothing to get excited about...he plays for Don Nelson. ANY baller who can hit a shot can get 20+ points easy in his system.

undrafted rooked, Anthony Morrow, scored 37 points earlier this season

undrafted rookie, Rob Kurz, scored 20 points with 7 rebounds 2 steals and 3 blocks earlier this season

undrafted sophomore, CJ Watson, scored 23 points with 6 rebounds 5 assists and 3 steals this season

not to mention, anyone who plays against Golden State looks like an all-star

I'm not doubting that Belinelli is good...however, until I see him flourish in a real basketball system that isn't known for inflating stats, I still view him as another Sarunas Jasikevicius. Great European player - borderline NBA talent....PeACe

Actually it is. For me and italians, it is. I know you americans have players like Kobe Bryant, Melo, Iverson, KG, Pierce, etc.. and you're used to it, but we italians only have 3 players in the NBA, and everytime they play well, IT IS something to get excited about. For us. I just wanted to share it, since like you said it's not a news so important for the rest of the world. It's like mauzip talking about AZ ;D

Nobody gives a fuck about AZ (but 2-3 users), but it's still curious to see how AZ is doing, because of mauzip's posts.

all I'm saying is, Italian or not, don't get your hopes up over ANY player (especially guard) exploding in Don Nelson's "system"...I definitely am curious to see if Belinelli can keep it up, but I've seen this happen way too many times in Golden State to believe the hype this early...PeACe

on a more important note the cat definatley looks like sly in rocky 1. lol

like many ballers in the nba giving the minutes, they can show you something. but it is an inflated system and it will take 10+ games scoring and doing how he is now to convince me he's a legit player, but all resepect to him because he is playing well and definatley has the chance now.

22 pts and 4 assists vs the Boston Celtics (including a pair of clutch shots at the end). I told ya... Just give him a real chance! 8) 8) 8)

P.S. He defended against Ray Allen all the time, limiting him to just 7 points.
