Question about setting up a home theater
« on: December 24, 2008, 04:15:03 PM »
4 Components:  TV, Receiver/speakers, PS3, Cable box

Which set-up is better?

1. For video use two HDMI cables from the cable box and PS3 directly to the TV
and for the audio, use two digital optical audio cables from the cable box and PS3 directly to the receiver

2. Use two HDMI cables from the cable box and PS3 to the receiver and one HDMI from the receiver to the TV

I guess with option number 1 I have more flexibility getting a receiver/speakers because I do not need HDMI inputs.  Any advice or input?

only advice i can give you is that you should use rca componant cables if you can, You will have a better image on a hdmi cable, but shittier sound. Most people dont even do the difference between hdmi and componant, and in a lot of cases it depends on the model of the tv or the setup.
