I came across these documents about a month ago and was going to convert them to text and post it up here but never got around to it. Some interesting things I remember from when I read them were:-A video was shot for Dogg Pound's version of Can't C Me (Hit the Fence)-The Next Episode was not on there- Aaron Hall appears to have a solo version of Toss It Up-Sean Barney Thomas had a shitload of unreleased songs-There's a box of DAT's that includes unused mixes and unused songs from Chronic 2000-Danny Boy has around 3 albums worth of material just from the mid 90's-Danny Boy has a song with Mary J Blige-Daz's RAW album is pretty much all there plus unreleased beats and a few songs we haven't heard-Daz's mom has a DAT tape of material in there-There's a DAT with the title Ice Cube Dr. Dre Sam and it says nothing else-Tons of DATS with song titles that I've never heard before listed under the artist "Death Row" along with lots of beats under the same name-2 DJ Quik DAT's where one says Untitled new track and the other says untitled Mike Tyson-Dr. Dre DAT tapes called "The Executioner" "Excuses Don't Ask" and "Pimpin The Hoe"-Dr. Dre DAT from 93 titled Can't See Me -The remakes of old Dre songs for the original version of Chronic 2000 are all there-Dre DAT with 2 songs on it, one called "Sexual Harassment" and the other called "Poor Young Dave" (Nigga Named Dave??)-Dre DAT with 3 songs called "Two Of Us" "Take My Chances" and "The Dog"-DAT's listed under artist Dr. Dre and Ice Cube for Endonesia, Cant See Me, and Natural Born Killaz-There was a video for Puffin On Blunts-Some video that is listed as Dr. Dre The Robbery?-LBC Crew album tracks and more that we havent heard of are all there listed under "Doggystyle Records" so that may mean that the Doggystyle Records comp and the LBC Crew album were the same thing-This is kinda creepy - some group called DRP has a DAT tape in there titled Farewell Tupac and the date for it is 9/12/96. Must be an error but that is odd considering he passed on the 13th.That's it for now... more to come later.
And my main question is, if these tracks were all there all this time then why would Suge release the mediocre shit like Dead Man Walkin when there was so much more and much better shit.
I don't know. And my main question is, if these tracks were all there all this time then why would Suge release the mediocre shit like Dead Man Walkin when there was so much more and much better shit. Oh ya I saw Street Life listed on Snoop's inventory too! Doesn't say featuring Tupac or anything just Street Life. They probably don't even realize he is on there. My personal opinion is that Suge really didn't give a fuck about anything after he went to prison, and the people he left to run his company were pretty clueless as to what was actually there. One thing I find very strange is that Next Episode is not there. All these other tracks are there with 4-5 different DAT copies of each song, and Next Episode was on the tracklisting for Doggystyle unlike most of these other songs, and is nowhere to be found. Could it be one of the tracks that Carl Butch Small had sitting in shoeboxes in Michigan? I guess we won't know until those are taken by the Death Row trustee and inventoried but the sale is next week and there is no sign of anything new coming from that whole Carl Butch Small thing which I find strange because that whole fiasco is the reason why it is being reauctioned. The fact that all these DAT's are not lost like a lot of us thought gives me hope that one day we will be privy to listen to all these tracks. I'm not going to sit here and hold my breath waiting though.
