Album Of The Week: Afro Samurai Resurrection:Soundtrack

The highly anticipated Afro Samurai Resurrection soundtrack gets the nod as our album of the week for new releases on January 27. RZA once again returns to bless the soundtrack with his unique touch. Several of today’s hottest artists will be joining him on the soundtrack. Female rapper Rah Digga, Kool G. Rap, Ghostface Killah and Inspectah Deck are all on board as the soundtrack offers a variety of favors.

The movie, which stars Samuel L Jackson as the voice of Afro and Ninja-Ninja, aired on January 25th, 2009, exclusively on Spike TV. The animated film also includes special guest stars Lucy Liu who voices Sio and Mark Hamill who voices Bin. Look out for the unrated/uncut DVD which is set to be released on February 3, 2009.

You can expect a lot of classic Wu Tang influenced beats and rhythms as RZA returns to his passion, martial arts. The heavy hitter on the album is Whar feat. Ghostface Killah. Ghostface spits over a classic RZA beat that is sure to rock your speakers and get that head rockin. The surprise of the album has to be Rah Digga. Digga adds her thugged out, bully like attitude on Bitch Gonna Get Ya’ and shows she has softer side on Girl Samurai Lullaby. If your a fan of the series or RZA this is one soundtrack you need to cop. Even if your not a fan you’ll appreciate the unique marriage of hip hop and martial arts at its finest.
