Rick Rubin At Work With The Clipse
« on: February 25, 2009, 05:05:20 PM »
Rick Rubin's impressive resume within the music industry has earned him accolades and honors well beyond most rap producers. After being an iconic catalyst in the Def Jam movement and heading Columbia Records, Rubin has worked with artists ranging from LL Cool J, Beastie Boys and Jay-Z to System of a Down, Johnny Cash, Metallica and The Red Hot Chili Peppers among others.
Recently, The Clipse have added themselves to the long list of artists Rubin has worked with. According to an Entertainment Weekly report, the Virginia duo has hit the lab with the established and decorated producer for work on the brothers' upcoming album Till the Casket Drops.
According to the source in The Clipse's camp, one collaborative track is already done and there is a possibility that they will link up for at least one more with Rubin.
The aformentioned Till the Casket Drops is the follow up to Hell Hath No Fury, an album that obtained major critical acclaim. While most fans are used to hearing Pusha T and Malice over beats by The Neptunes, this album may prove to be a change of direction. Till the Casket Drops is reportedly going to feature production from an array of producers. Still, fans of their old work may still find Neptunes-assisted tracks on the LP.
Although no official word has been given as to who will be on the retail release of the album, we do know what their first single will end up being. EW reports that "Kinda Like a Big Deal," a song produced by DJ Khalil and featuring Kanye West, will be the official first single. That song is said to be dropping March 9. The album artwork will feature a piece from KAWS, a popular street artist.
In related Clipse news, the duo will appear at this year's Coachella Festival along with Lupe Fiasco, K'naan and The Knux. They will all appear on the same night as the Cure, Sunday April 19, 2009, the last evening for the tour.
For more on the Coachella line up and other artists on this year's bill, including Molotov, Paul McCartney Atmosphere, People Under the Stairs and more, visit the festival's site below.

for real i was just about to say. I don't think Kanye would bring out the auto tune on a Clipse track though; i think he'll RAP because he knows what fan base he's dealing with

only way clipse would allow that is if its gonna be a corny single and they trying to big numbers after the last flop

i aint worried bout neptunes not doin the whole thang, clipse sound amazing over them pharrell beats no question but it seems like they workin with a real solid group of other producers anyways

It's not the Clipse fault. Steven Victor (he's supposed to mix the single), just started to mix it two days ago. (So professional...)

Clipse to me are the most underrated group out there.  Their last album didn't get the play it deserved, and they always bring heat.  Can't wait for this album!

Can't go wrong with a Rick Rubin track. He's probably the most versatile producer in the business.

Now that Pimp-C passed I gotta say THE CLIPSE are my favorite active group.

Man that "Till The Casket Drops Prelude Mixtape" is stuck on play with me.

I doubt they will be messing with autotune because there sister disses it on a intro on the mixtape saying "so when are you gonna make a track for the women and I'm not talking about no robot alvin and the chip monks stuff".

Check out there clothing line website! They must be doing well because most of the shit is sold out.
