Top 10 Personal Favorite Boxers to watch of all time...
« on: April 12, 2009, 12:26:51 AM »
this is not a list of who is better
this is a list of who i liked to watch and personal favorites of all time

10. Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield

If you were to ask me 2 years ago about his list he would of easily been my top 3. But too bad he fucked up his career by not retiring by now. He still has a chance to be champion but it wont last long. He really needs to give it up already. but ill never forget when he came to Corpus to fight Vinny Mandalone and when EVERYONE in that arena including me and my family were shouting "HOLYFIELD HOLYFIELD!!" he will always be in my top 10 because i rememebr when i was 7 i asked my parents to order the evander vs tyson fight for me and they did and when tyson bit his ear i asked "can they do that in boxing" lol and he continued to fight

9. Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor

Has one of the best jabs i have ever seen in boxing. Defense slacks a bit but he a good boxer to watch. Doesnt talk alot and does most of his talking in the ring. After beating Jeff Lacy he shows he will be a legitimate threat in super middle and ligh heavy weight divisions.

8. Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga

Watch some of his interviews and you will see why he is one of the bests. He talks the best shits and backs every bit of it up. He is the first person i went for against de la hoya. If this was a top ten brawlers list he would be my top 3. he is a great character and there will not be another character who can do what he does in boxing. who else will smoke a ciggerette when talking shit to Fernando Vargas over an interview?

7. Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz

He is the new aged Diego Corrarles, he is always down to go to war. Great fighter and great champion, was once the undisputed lightweight champion but i think got robbed by Nate Cambell. He is young and has a bright future ahead of him.

6. James "Lights Out" Toney

Nobody can knock this guy out, and nobody can hate from what he accomplished. He is the only person to go from middlewieght champ, to Heavy Champ. He talks the best shit and backs it up. he is the best to watch with his great defense and incredible punching power. No One will ever be able to knock out James Toney

5. Muhammed Ali/ Cashius Clay

The Greatest of all time. Another great trash talker and classic fights... really his name explains it all i really dont have to go into much detail.

4. "Iron" Mike Tyson

Looked up to this guy as a kid. I Love mike tyson, if this was the best fighter ever thread he would be number one. if he never went to prison and his career never went down the shitter he would still be a champion and or a contender...

3. Rocky MArciano

There will never be a better brawler heavyweight then this guy. he is all the above, power puncher, quick hands, smart ring knowledge, great defense. He could beat Ali and hang with Tyson.

2. Diego "Chico" Corrales

has to go down as one of the best brawlers ever. Never backed down from a fight even when he was hurt and always kept fighting... his fights against Jose Luis Castillo is what really made me love and appreciate what boxing is today

1. Floyd "Money" Mayweather

No matter what anyone has to say... he is the best of all time. greatest boxer to watch, talks the best trash, and will never lose. Is the best offensively, defensively and loves to get under his opponents skin... love him or hate him he is the best

before his death he was having problems with his promoter. that's why when he jumped up to welterweight they made him fight Joshua Clottey who was clearly one of the best welters at the time and still is...

i would of loved to see Chico fight the likes of Hatton, Pacquiao, and Cotto because he would of been able to hang with them and is the only one besides Floyd who would been/is able to beat them

Is this a personal top 10 list?
or an official top 10 these are the best to ever lace them up... (Still an opinion)

Cause if this is a best of all-time list and I don't see no...
Sugar Ray Robinson
Joe Louis
Henry Armstrong
Sugar Ray Leonard
Roberto Duran
Thomas Hearns
Marvin Hagler
Willie Pep
Jack Dempsey
Joe Fraizer
Pernel Whitaker
Julio Cesar Chavez
Salvador Sanchez......ect ect..
:'( sad shit..

(IMO, Chicken Floyd is nowhere near a GOAT discussion)

Agreed. He's kinda like Roy Jones: he carefully selects his opponents and is very good at hyping himself.

Oh thank god!! I though these lists were for the best ever and I couldn't believe how horrible the lists were but since the list's are for your personal favorites then thats a different story.

i disagree.

Victories over

De La Hoya
Hatton
Arturo Gatti
Zab Judah
Castillo (x2)
Diego Corrales
Baldomir (he wasnt great, but was champ)
etc

Those are pretty good fighters. And other then Castillo, nobodie's really come close to beating him. Hatton was up and coming and most people said Floyd was past his prime, he knocked him out. De La Hoya was past his prime, but definetely the bigger man. Even tho Floyd didnt overwhelm him with power (which isnt his game), he completely confused De La Hoya in the ring. Floyds style just isnt appealing. But he has the ability to make every other fighter he faces, fight HIS fight and make other wise good fighters, look like ametuers in the ring.
