I listen to the Tom Hartman show almost everyday, so I was damn near shocked that he had Alex Jones on his show. Hartman is a true liberal, and is not blind to the stuff Obama is doing. So what happens when he puts Alex Jones on, I think these two need a show... lol. Entertaining to say the least.

See the thing is I don't fundamentally disagree with you on quite a few things. As for the Ron Paul comments, well I am not going to lie I agree with him on many issues and I still stand by what I said he has been the best opportunity for real change which the west has seen for a long time. However that is not to say that I don't see flaws and just on points of principle where I am at complete loggerheads. For instance his intention is to put the fed out of commission, to pull all of the troops out of all battle zones, to reduce government bureaucracy, to reduce taxes, to actually tighten the border, to get America out of these bs world organisations like the WTO etc.

However I do not agree with him on welfare, I guess in this sense my ideas cross over into socialism. It is a fundamental that the state looks after the people of the state. Now what I was trying to say was that welfare has become a dependence trap and it always will be but you have to offer people an alternative avenue. I think you and I agree that the west should be putting real value back into the economy through actually producing again. These neo liberal policies have not liberated the world, they have had completely the opposite effect and only centralised power and wealth into fewer hands.

I don't think it's a question of the state not having enough money to properly fund welfare either. I believe this to be something of a flawed argument and a misleading one at that. The reason why such an assertion can be put forward is because of the system itself. The system has basically been designed (in it's present form) to breeze past the super rich corporations and hammer everyone else. Now in this sense I would bet my bottom dollar that the clampdwon on swiss bank accounts amounts to nothing more than tokenism. Indeed it will hit some wealthy people but as you know, there are many layers of wealth and clearly the super rich will have their money offshored somewhere else.

Also since I am not in the habit of doing a Fox News and ignoring fundamental flaws, I can also safely say that I completely disagree with a purist libertarian viewpoint because this also encompasses getting rid of net neutrality. The internet as both of us agree on, is a bastion of what power information can have and more than that, it's a real freedom of speech without bullshit censorship. If the conglomerate of corporations which run the hubs of the internet got what Ron Paul supports, then they would render many parts of the internet unusable through bandwidth allocation.

This is why I think whenever someone sees themselves as being purely this, or purely that, they have a tendency to accept everything that comes with it. As you no doubt know I consider the democrats and republicans not ideologically to be the same, but that their hierarchy has been steered into the same direction. It really is not about whether Obama is a good person or not, that really is secondary to who calls the shots and so it is down to the people who voted this man into the office to make sure he does what he has promised. I think a lot more expectation has been placed on him because he sets a precedent in being the first black president. Personally I think the the skin colour of any said prime minister or president doesn't matter one iota but I do recognise that to black people especially, it's symbolic.   

You have no doubt recognised that I am quite cynical lol but with good reason. I was quite taken in by the labour party in England back during the early years of Tony Blair's reign and voted accordingly. Now I feel like I was poisoned by something which looked enticing only to then discover it had a very bad taste. I do think it's encouraging that the left are not viewing Obama through rose tinted glasses and I must admit I didn't know that Olbermann had spoken with criticism about some of the policies being employed by the Obama administration but obviously that is encouraging.

I want to be proven wrong about this new government but, for anything positive to happen the voters must not lose sight of what they want and hold the current government properly accountable. I think you are not blind but choose to overlook things when it paints Obama in a bad light, that is what annoys me about you lol. Having said that, it's not really like we are poles apart it's just perspective. However I have read posts of yours where you do acknowledge that everything is not all rosy, so I can't exactly tar you with the same brush that some of the crazy christian conservatives deserve because that really was on a whole different level.

I hope that type of simulcast does happen more often though, it is interesting to hear people from two different political perspectives. (not shouting at each other helps to)

that's why him and Hartman would make a great show. Jones is the loud conservative and Hartman is the straight man liberal. They disagree so much, but agree with each other on the important stuff. If they do a show like that twice a year,
