Clayton is going to strike out more guys because he will be more of a power pitcher than Chad.  Chad is also a power pitcher but he can rely on fitness aspects of pitching.  The thing is though is that Clayton has pitched more MLB games at an earlier game than Chad, so Clayton will mature much faster than Chad.  Ultimately, I think it's a wash.

Why?  Kershaw put up similar stats to  Chad when they were both 19 and 20 in the same minor league teams.  Kershaw's first starts in the bigs have been better than Chad's, and at a younger age too.

Billingsley uses his low 90s fastball placed well, with a good curveball, good cutter, and good sliders

Kershawn needs to work on his command/control a lil bit still...his curveball is highly praised (by koufax)

The problems Kershaw is going through right now, Chad went through them a couple of seasons ago in terms of control issues.  That's why I don't think you can easily choose on or the other when talking about who has more potential.  Both are Ace-caliber pitchers IMO

Billingsley is already an ace, while Kershaw got his feet wet last year and is in his first full season. This should be a dangerous 1-2 combo for years to come, a righty and lefty, Kershaw gets more K's and has the nasty curveball, Billingsley, simply put, is a workhorse. I guess I'd say Kershaw has more "potential" because he is doing it at a younger age in the majors and the big strikeout guys always get a little more love.
I got a bird's eye view

True, I guess I would pick Billingsley just because he's already proven himself and thus is the "safe bet," but I have a lot of confidence in Clayton's future
