Eminem - 3 a.m. (prod. by Dr. Dre) NEW SINGLE!
« on: April 23, 2009, 03:39:20 PM »
Not really feeling is flow as usual. The beat is coo, but nothing special. Hope relapse is better than what we have heard (Crack a Bottle, We Made You, and 3 a.m.). Im not a fna of how EM is using these dumb ass accents/voices on his flows.

I am feeling his flow! I am feeling the beat also! I think he just tested many flows on this beat and picked the best one that suited the beat.
after putting this track on repeat, it just got better and better. Have y'all checked those first 10 seconds. It's like a movie (directed by Dr.Dre).

sounds like a cheap leftover beat to me. y'all got some low standards when it comes to production. dunno what dre is playing at, he gotta have some way better shit than this to give to his artists. even that snoop dogg millionaire track is better (minus the hook).

if you think this is cinematic, check out 'hey playa' or 'fuck y'all' from dj quik and kurupt 8)

or for something dre sounding, that new defari joint. shits on this rubbish.

That's true. Quik has been far from impressive lately with Fixxers and Fuck Ya'll being the only decent beat from Blackout. But with that being said, this Dre beat is decent at best too.

Matty usually has a sound opinion so i wouldn't limit him to a Quik stan or a Doc Dre hater.

I think the beat, the flow, and the lyrics are work together but I'm not shocked or WOWed by the song.  It's okay.  Kind of feels like a chapter in a book.  I'm reminded of Budden's Padded Room.
Cool breeze; I'm hopping out of new Beams
My outfit ran me a few G's but none of that will matter if you leave
I used to be an Adam with two Eves and shawtys automatically do me
Excuse me, all that happened before you doesn't matter
I'm a vision of the future climbing the success ladder
Recline, in the mean time, twenty three shine, diamond bling blind as I rewind

everybody is always trippen about Dre's beats.
Let him use his own style. The big question is "what kind of production beat did you expect than ?" Another remake of in da club, how we do, without me?????
Everybody knows this is impossible and every person can't stick on certain areas. Music evolves. Dre is changing and his music too. You cant expect to hear g-funk from him. Let him make his music. If you take a good look at the beat, you cannot compare this with quiks "hey playa". This is another song with another story.
It is the same if you say the movie casino is better than scarface. You feel me?
Production wise >>you can hear that the beat is mixed well. If some people don't feel this beat, than so be it. Everyone has his own taste. But to say that Dre fell of. Come on, you can't say that!

Yes but why is it whenever a dre track comes out its always immediately compared to quik.you can't have a snoop or crook thread without the other being mentioned.

ok so maybe the quik comparison wasn't a good idea, but those who read my posts know the expectations on dre are based mainly on his own production in recent years. the quik comparison probably takes a bit too much contextualising for people to see it as anything other than 'quik dickriding' or 'dre hating'. as dre's sound is changing (drums being the main part of this), his productions have become increasingly hit and miss.

there have been some hits and i am quick to praise these tracks. for the most part though, it's been a miss, and one can't help but be increasingly frustrated by the lack of a-grade beats being put out by dre. if eminem can't even get a classic beat, there isn't much hope left. if anyone wants to contest this, we can get into a detailed discussion on dre's production in the last few years.

the production on this joint is extremely underwhelming - flat, hollow and stale sounding. to say it is impressively dark and cinematic is grasping at straws (why?) or just interscope cheerleading (very popular on this forum). dre has done better sounding beats with a similar vibe in the past. go back and bump 'murder dem murderers' then tell me this is better. that's just a leftover from over 2 years ago and i didn't think it was that great either, but it certainly serves to prove the point. shouldn't dre's productions be improving? anyone who says this sounds like a leftover beat is on the money.

i would argue that quik has been better than decent as of late and has even shown signs of putting a new twist on some of his older, classic sounds. no co-incidence he is working with some of the musicians from his best era again.

to the dude questioning music purchases, i haven't bought very much hip-hop music in the last few years (compared to the size of my overall collection) due to the extreme low quality output from the music industry. as the quality of music being put out lowers dramatically, i don't feel compelled to lower my own standards just to compensate. having said that, more recent purchases include:

ego trippin (cue laughter) not an amazing cd, but i generally cop snoop's albums so i supported it
guru jazzmatazz volume 4 - great, loved it
redman - red gone wild - bit older, but dope

i wanna get the latest epmd at some stage too.
