8 Mile OST thoughts from Cliche...
« on: October 12, 2002, 11:06:18 AM »
who else has heard this?

y'all get your MIRC's on :p

anyways....

track ratings/comments time...

Eminem - Lose Yourself
the kind of performance i expect from Em... very dope... nice ass beat...
5/5

Eminem, 50 Cent, Obie Trice - Love Me
Obie and Eminem sound nice over the slow paced joint... the sung hook fits well too... still dont like 50 but he's tolerable here.
4/5

Obie Trice - Adrenaline Rush
beat is average... fits Obie well... he seems to sound similar a lot of the time... but at least he's got some passion and energy in there... you hear me 50 cent?
3/5

50 Cent - Places To Go
the beat is zzzz... nothing special... his flow is still choppy to me... voice is nothing special... lyrics nothing special... the hook is kinda catchy though.
2/5

D-12 - Rap Game
good beat... is it just me or is Em keeping all the good ones for himself ;)  hook is dope... bizarre is... there.
4/5

Jay-Z & Freeway - 8 Miles & Runnin'
beat is cool... Jay sounds solid... but Freeway? someone revoke this kids contract please.... the rap gingerbread man?  maybe bizarre will eat him...
3/5

Xzibit - Spitshine
good beat... nice and hard... Xzibit sounds pretty good... i think i like this more than most of his album.
4/5

Macy Grey - Time Of Your Life
dope, as far as r&b joints go... love the beat... and i can stand Macy herself.. which is a big change for me....
3.5/5

Nas - You Wanna Be Me
i love the piano... and Nas sounds real strong on it...
4/5

50 Cent - Wanksta
zzzzzzzz... beat is okay... but this guy's mumbly joe flow just makes me not care... lyrics dont help... they're nothing special...

Boomkat - Wasting My Time
okay... whoever this is... girl can siiiiiiiiiiiing... very soulful... im loving it!
5/5

Rakim - R.A.K.I.M.
Rakim comes dope... i dig the hook, but wtf is that sound that alternates with the clap? sounds like a combination of a video game machine gun and a drum machine on crack. other than that the beat is dope...
4.5/5

Young Zee - Thats My Nigga Fo Real
man... usually i enjoy Zee, but this song is boring... he needs uptempo beats so he can bring his energy... he's not bad on this, just zzzzzzz...
2/5

Gangstarr - Battle
dope-ness.... nice sampling by Primo, Guru is on point.
5/5

Eminem - Run Rabbit Run
again Eminem makes with the Slim-Shady-esque performance... if he could only put out an album that had this same atmosphere.
5/5

overall its pretty dope, especially for a OST....

Eminem stepped up his game from the Eminem Show...If only he would make an album like the joints he did on this we would have a true classic album from him...I ain't feeling Obie Trice, I don't get what Em sees in him Royce is alot better...

That Rakim track is sick.  At first I found the beat kind of abnormal, but that stomping sound is dope and that track is just crazy.

The Gang Starr song is better than I would have thought.  I thought it would have just been a throwaway track.  That beat is amazing.

These are my fav. two track as of now.

I think you really underrated some of the tracks. This is probably the best Hip Hop soundtrack ever. Yeah even better than Murder Was The Case. Any way here are my thoughts on the songs.

01 - Eminem - Lose Yourself
Everyone knows this already so there is nothing to be said Classic 5/5

02 - Obie Trice, Eminem & 50 Cent - Love Me
A nice slow beat but not as good as the rest. Em has a very dope verse like always and I'm slowly getting used to 50 Cent. 4.3/5

03 - Eminem - 8 Mile
I think Loose Yourself is a bit better than this, but this shit is so catchy. Awsome song. 5/5

04 - Obie Trice - Adrenaline Rush
A dope beat and Obie is good, but he is not great. He says Mother Fucker 50 times in this shit, which sort of ruins the song in a Kurupt/Xxplosive way. 4.2/5

05 - 50 Cent - Places To Go
I'm starting to dig 50 Cent although I still don't see what Em sees in him to sign him for a Mil. Very nice beat with a 80's videogame sound to it. 4.4/5

06 - D-12 - Rap Game
Another great D12 track. Awsome beat and a great line by Eminem that was edited out "Ima get snuffed cuz I ain't said enought to pipedown, I'll pipedown when the fucking White House is whiped out. When I see that little Chaney dike get sniped out, Lights out bitch audios goodnight (sniper shot) pow" 4.7/5

07 - Jay-Z - 8 Miles and Running
Eminem produce another Incredible beat especialy during the hook. I'm not a Jay-Z fan but he comes fairly tight. Awsome song thanks to the beat 4.5/5

08 - Xzibit - Spitshine
A very dope beat by Kon Artist and Xzibit comse tight as always 4.5/5

09 - Macy Gray - Time of Your Life
-
10 - Nas - You Wanna Be Me
Nice beat with Nas comming tight 4.3/5

11 - 50 Cent - Wanksta
I like the beat it's tight, but not everyone will. 50 Cent's lazy style is growing on me. Tight song.  4.2/5

12 - Boomkat - Wasting My Time
-
13 - Rakim - R.A.K.I.M.
The beat is incredible with a nice marching feel to it. The hook is awsome except for the Allah part (I'm not Muslim and I'm not gonna be singing along to this) Rakim is amazing on the track as expected. 4.8/5

14 - Young Zee - That's My Nigga Fo Real
-
15 - Gangstarr - Battle
A tight beat from Primo. Nice rhymes. 4.5/5

16 - Eminem - Run Rabbit Run
A new style of beat from Eminem that is again Incredible. Incredible fast flow from Eminem and a 3rd classic from him on this Sdtk. 5/5

Awsome for an album and the best Soundtrack I have ever heard.

I don't really like to diss anyone, but your stupidity is just to damn rediculous.  You are the reason why hip hop is garbage now.  Do not ever give eminem a higher mark then Gangstarr.  Gangstarr destroyed every song on that album with just one track.  I'm sorry but don't ever compare this soundtrack to Murder was the case again you stupid little kid!! This soundtrack is garbage! Nas, Gangstarr, Rakim, and maybe Xzibit's songs are the only one's worth listening to.  Eminem, 50 cent, d12, and all these other rejects tracks gotta go. >:(

Listen bitch I don't know how old you are or how long you have been listening to Rap, but I've been listening since 1991 so don't call me a stupid little kid.
1. The reason I gave GangStarr a lower rating then Eminem is because I have never been a fan of Gangstarr or listened to much of it. I mainly listen to West Coast. You could have seen this by my few comments on it.

2. The reason I said this was better than Murder Was The Case was because of the # of songs I liked on the album out of all the songs. So let's go over the Sdtk. and see. Maybe my memory was wrong.
1. Murder Was The Case (Remix) - Snoop Doggy Dogg Dat Nigga Daz 4:20
Classic 5/5
2. Natural Born Killaz - Dr. Dre/Ice Cube Dr. Dre 4:51
Classic 5/5
3. What Would U Do? - Tha Dogg Pound Big Pimpin' Delemon 5:08
Awsome Song 5/5
4. 21 Jumpstreet - Snoop Doggy Dogg/Tray Deee Snoop Doggy Dogg 5:26
4.9/5
5. One More Day - Nate Dogg Dogg 5:18
5/5
6. Harvest For The World - Jewell Isley/I/I/I/I/J 3:52
-
7. Who Got Some Gangsta Shit? - Snoop Doggy Dogg Dat Nigga Daz 5:28
4.5/5
8. Come When I Call - Danny Boy DJ Quick 4:55
-
9. U Better Recognize - Sneed 3:54
4.8/5
10. Come Up To My Room - Jodeci Dogg Pound Posse 4:37
4.6/5
11. Woman To Woman - Jewell Banks/M/T 5:18
-
12. Dollars & Sense - DJ Quik 5:53
5/5
13. The Eulogy - Slip Capone/CPO Boss Hog 4:48
I don't even remember this
14. Horny - B-Rezell McWilliams/Wrice 4:41
-
15. Eastside-Westside - Young Soldierz
4/5

Murder Was The Case: Out of 15 Songs
Has 7 Classic or Near Classic songs
2 Tight Songs, 1 Good Song and 5 songs I don't give a fuck about.

8 Mile: Out of 16 Songs
Has 5 (6 if you count your beloved GangStarr)
4 Tight songs. 4 Good songs, and 3 songs I don't give a fuck about.

So the reason that I said 8 Mile was better was because of the # of tracks I remember liking. If I was to choose now I would say MWTC is a bit better, but only becaue I like Nate, Snoop, Dre, DPG, and Cube better than who is on this album, but that doesnt mean it isn't close for quality.

If you hate Eminem and his camp then thats your fucking problem. Fact is that he is putting out some of the best shit today.

This sdtk is hardly garbage and I can say allready that it's way better than the weak ass Gridlock'd sdtk.  I can't say if it's up there with Murder Was The Case yet, but it might be up there.
