Idea for Dre about all the Detox leaks
« on: May 14, 2009, 01:29:11 AM »
Ok, so far theres been a few tracks that have leaked that were supposed to be featured on Detox. The 1 w/ 50 Cent & R. Kelly, and about 3 to 4 tracks Dre did w/ T.I.
now although these were only skeleton tracks that u can tell were unfinished.. U can tell they would have been dope when Dre puts his final touches on them.

We all know Dre is a perfectionist, and hates when his music is out before its supposed to be.  This only makes Dre go back in the studio and re-work or throw away tracks!  Which makes Detox an even longer wait, and I know alot of people are starting to lose interest or are just plain sick of this Detox hype/endless wait.

I think Dre should take a page outta Lil Waynes book.  Now, I'm not a big lil wayne fan, but u cannot deny the fact that he has been one of the popular rappers in the game for the last couple of years... And I remember the hype before he dropped his Carter 3.  people were waiting for awhile, and then alot of his songs leaked.. Wayne did a brilliant thing by actually releasing an official cd entitled THE LEAK.. Which contained songs that were originally on the carter but got leaked..

I think this would be a great idea for Dr. Dre.
He should release a cd w/ a couple of the songs that leaked out.. Fully mixed and mastered.  and maybe a couple of new songs that barely didn't make the cut for Detox.
That way, he will still make money on the release of his tracks and won't have to just throw them away.  It will tide people over until the actual release of Detox, because i think alot of people are starting to lose interest especially after what I feel was a sub-par Eminem album.  And this will also be a great way to test the waters for the actual release of Detox.. Because the music industry is nothing like what it was when 2001 came out.. Imagine if takes another full year for Detox to come out and when it does, it flops sales wise!
I say it should be a 5-6 track CD.
with the tracks  "It coulda been you" ft. R. Kelly & 50 cent.  "topless" ft. T.I & Nas and maybe that "Shit Popped Off" track along w/ a couple new unheard tracks that will get people excited and maybe think Detox might actually be real.
That way even if nobody buys it and it flops, it wouldn't count as a full length album and wouldn't hurt Dre's ego or sales history.

Lemme know what yall think

sounds like a good idea, as the ones that liked the leaked tracks will get a proper version.

by the way Dawaun Parker announced a mixtape: there could be leftovers on there.

I would absolutly buy that! But I personaly think when Dre unleashes this new "sound", he jus wanna smack everybody upside the head with this sound on detox and not on a cd with just rough ideas.

I feel what u are saying, but to me everything he's been releasing lately has been subpar material.. except for maybe 1 or 2 beats on the Relapse CD which might be jus barely up to his standards... I don't think anybody here thinks that anything he's released in the past few years has been better than the stuff he's done in the past.

And my point is that these tracks were originally intended for detox.. And Dre was furious over the leaks.. So instead of just throwing them away, release them on his own terms..  I can see topless creating a lil street buzz, once Dre raps over T.I's verse and finishes the mixing after adding all his lil sound effects and makes everything crystal clear.
I'm pretty sure if it never leaked the final version of this song woulda made the cut for Detox. But now, most likely it'll be tossed away, with everyone judging a skeleton version of the song, and we're all stuck waiting to see if detox will ever see light.

first you say the leaks would be dope if finished, now you are calling them subpar...make up your mind.

What are u talking about?? I never said those were subpar. I can't really judge them because they haven't been finished and released! I mean Dre's not even on any of the songs yet!  c'mon man.. Read before u reply.
U said Dre doesn't like releasing subpar material.. That means he doesn't like putting out official releases until he's satisfied w/ the final product. (i.e.. tracks 4 Eminem, Jay-z, Snoop Dogg..etc officially released albums).. And I agree w/ that statement.. He doesn't like releasing subpar material.. Its just everything that he has officially released so far have been subpar for his own standards.
These songs that have leaked have not released THEY HAVE BEEN LEAKED.. Theres a difference!

For all those that know how Dre works, his mixing and mastering is what separates him from most other producers.. And like I said the leaked songs have the potential to be really dope once finished.. AND THEN FINALLY RELEASED!

haha.. U are hilarious dude!  Do u not understand english?? I just wrote a whole essay to help u understand, but u still don't get it!

I see the highlight u made of my quote, but u are proving my point.  Let me see if I can explain this to u a lil better...lets look at what u highlighted "to me everything he's been releasing lately has been subpar material".. I stand bye this statement.  So far everything HE HAS RELEASED LATELY includes tracks on this last Eminem album, Jay-z, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and one Bishop Lamont song..etc..
These leaks do not qualify under this statement, because he has not released them.. THEY HAVE LEAKED!  Once again, there is a difference! They have not been finalized, mixed, mastered, and dre hasn't even rapped on them yet... So I cannot make a judgement on a song that is nowhere near completion, thus I cannot make an opinion on if or if not they qualify as subpar or not.. C'mon dude.. Its really not that hard to figure out what I'm saying. If u still can't figure it out.. Just read it a couple more times and I'm sure it'll come to u.. haha.

Released tracks = Eminem album, 50 cent tracks, etc.. = subpar
Leaked tracks = "topless", "It coulda been you", etc.. = potentialy great tracks if finalized and mixed properly

sounds ok, sorta like when he originally dropped his "Pretox" mixtape with that snippet back when he had a 2004 release (if my memory is correct), but the only way he should build buzz is if he released a single.A single says a lot that a album will have a foreseeable release.A small EP of track's that weren't good for the album could be good or bad (Depending on the content) as for this new "sound" it sounds exactly how his style has been since 2001 (or Slim shady which ever).Personally I think Detox will retain his current style (hopefully with some G-Funk style) and possibly just have beats that are highly refined/complex, but if he come up with another innovated style that would help Detox a lot.
