Mike Tyson's Daughter Dies After Hanging Accident

Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter, Exodus Tyson, has died after accidentally hanging herself on a piece of exercise equipment at home.

Phoenix Police Department Officer James Holmes told TVGuide.com that Exodus Tyson died at 11:45 a.m. (MST) in what he called a "tragic accident." An autopsy is expected to be performed. Holmes said the family is asking for privacy in the matter.

Tyson's daughter was put on life support after she was discovered Monday with her neck caught in a treadmill cord that hangs from the machine's console. Her mother had removed the cord and tried to revive her before she was rushed to a Phoenix hospital.

The former heavyweight boxing champ was in Las Vegas, but flew to Phoenix immediately after the accident.

The ex-champ was at the hospital bedside of Exodus Tyson, who had been clinging to life after she accidentally got tangled up in a cord on the exercise machine Monday. She was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. local time, Phoenix police Sgt. Andy Hill said. Exodus Tyson's older brother was watching TV and their mom was cleaning their central Phoenix home when Exodus apparently started playing with the machine alone. A cord looped around the girl's neck and somehow choked her. She was unconscious when her brother found her and her mother dialed 911.
