(HW) "Kalifornia Luv" (Chapter 1 excerpt)-
It was a bright sunny Saturday morning in southern California, thought
Siggy as he stood barefoot in his boxer shorts on the balcony of his
girlfriend's apartment. He smiled as he took a deep drag of his
Newport and thought, it felt damn good to be free. He had just been
released from prison after doing four and a half years. The night
before when he'd gotten home, his long time girlfriend, Tanisha, had
given him a surprise welcome home party. All of his homeboys from his
neighborhood came to welcome their O/G back home. It had been a hard
four and a half years for him, but now that he was out he planned to
get paid. He just didn't know exactly how he was going to do it. He
was sure that there was no way he was going back to petty hustling.
That sh** was for suckas and definitely not for him anymore. Though
his skills were limited, he still felt confident that he'd be able to
make something happen for himself. He didn't have to rush into
anything, simply because he knew that he had a hell of a woman on his
team. Tanisha had been with him through thick and thin, he knew that
she would always be by his side, and that was a blessing. She even
stayed with him after he fathered another set of twins by a female
that she couldn't stand.
