Clyde Carson's Album
« on: June 04, 2009, 10:23:26 AM »
i've always like clyde carson and brinign thebay area back. He had some really good songs ' 2 step' ' doin that' to name a few but recently his msuic  has been really manistream and not very westcoast (LA or Bay soundin).

His album has been coming out for over a year and i heard mentioned on the net that bass rock will be out in june

I hope it does, but i hope he hasn't went all mainstream.

it seems that the major labels are making sure west coast artists dont sound west coast.

I will never stop dreaming like im in a fuckin coma

If a westcoast artist is to bring back the westcoast, its not gonna be with that old westcoast sound that all the wc heads love. Its gonna be with a mainstream sound.

Yeah. it seems that way

i don't want an old school west coast sound but something unique and not just copied. look at Quik & Kurupt, like it or not they tried something new which you have giv ethem credit for.

Carson was good at this with the team. their grimey sound was out before it got popular with hyphy and mainstream hip hop.

I will never stop dreaming like im in a fuckin coma

Thats the truth... For Example, Game's Doc's Advocate had two of the most westcoast sounding tracks ever, California Vacation & The Remedy...  California Vacation had two West Coast "Mainstream artists" Xzibit & Snoop Dogg, but it wasnt really "Radio Friendly" so it didnt get the call as a single. Wouldnt Get Far was produced and featured Kanye West who is Mr Mainstream.  That got a Huge push as a single just like Strip Club did cuz it was produced by Scott Storch...

The Best way for us to hear the Original West Coast sound is to throw the old albums (Chronic, Doggystyle, Dogg Food) into the changers and keep it alive.  That or if anybody can get a job ina radio station and build themselves up to have their own show haha... Satellite would be ur best bet though...
