2-3-2
« on: June 11, 2009, 07:21:08 PM »
is it me or is the nba finals 2-3-2 just fucking retarded, im sure this has been discussed before but why do they do it? its rediculous to think a team will win 3 in a row at home, and then that completely favors the home team

Probably to add more intrigue to the Finals lol. Didn't they have this format a long time ago? Not sure but I don't think the team that ended up with 3 home games in a row has won all 3 yet anyways since they implemented it.

They switched the format for the Finals because in the 1980s the Lakers and Celtics had to keep traveling from coast to coast. It's to reduce travel time.

Not true. The Pistons did it in 2004. I think like 3 teams have accomplished it.

eh i prefer 2-3-2 to 2-2-1-1-1 because it'd save travel time and sheet

I have always thought it was a terrible format!

It needs to be changed to 2-2-1-1-1 asap

It was done in the 80's because the cost to move the production team between Boston and LA was too costly, so to cut cost they went 2-3-2, so only 2 moves instead of 2-2-1-1-1 with 4 moves in between. Made sense then, and I guess coast to coast is expensive, but yeah it's harder to get catch up if you don't have home court advantage.

yeah ive always thought it was silly. It completely favors the team with homecourt advantage.  When a team wins game 1 and 2 at home (its what theyre supposed to do), that basically makes the next three games MUST wins for the team without homecourt advantage.

yeah even the nhl does its finals 2-2-1-1-1
2-3-2 sucks, bottom line no matter the format the better team wins 98% of the time in ne series, no matter the format

lol@ you acting like NIK (or another Kobe dicksucker) wouldnt come in here and try to prove that the Lakers were really better then the Celtics last year. Or better then my Spurs when we crushed them in the playoffs.

well you know... nah... I wouldn't because last year the Celtics were better. In the NBA's ideal situation, last year the Lakers beat the Celtics, then this year Kobe loses to LeBron, but in the real world, Boston was the better team last year, and this year LeBron will have to wait another couple of years, 'cause next year Boston will be the best team in the east. Even a depleted team took Orlando to the limits, they have a heart of a champion, and I can't wait to see my Lakers play them once again in the biggest stage of them all.

I heard that it only happened once with the home team & that's the Pistons.  Last teams that have won 3 & the finals on the road was the 2001 Lakers & 91 Bulls.  I prefer the 2-3-2.  There's no complaints with it in MLB.  I'd have no problem with it happening in NHL also.
