It's finally here, Rain's new street tape "American Dreamin 2" hosted by DJ Don Cannon which we've been hyping up for weeks!

 

Rain has become one of the newest, most dominant forces in Hip-Hop and he is back with his 2009 release of "American Dreamin 2" (Money Over Fame) hosted by DJ Don Cannon. This is the sequel to the 2008 "American Dreamin" street opus and this time, Rain brings you 14 original songs. To be released through http://xclusiveszone.net and www.myspace.com/rain910. Rain has recently been featured on BET's "The Deal", MTV's "TRL", Ozone Magazine, XXL "Show & Prove", and The Source's "Unsigned Hype."

1. Intro - Beat is hot. Rain spits great on it (as usual anyways). - 4.75/5
2. How U Want It - Not really feeling the up tempo feel to this. Rain is at his best on the slower beats normally. The rapping on here still tough though. - 3.75/5

3. Shoot You Down - Cool sample. Same problem I have with the production. - 4/5
4. Fire Burn - It's alright. - 3.75/5
5. Here We Go Again Ft. Krillz, Lo Keys, Traffic - Average once again. - 3.25/5

6. Gettin' It In - Cool summer time beat/hook feel to it. 4/5
7. Rock On - Not bad. - 4/5

Ive come to a conclusion on Rain. He is a really good lyricist and story teller BUT he needs to step his flow up and his production game up. I know he aims for mostly laid back tracks and mellow beats but theres to much of that on his mixtapes. I like him though, just think theres really good potential for him to step it up!!!

8. Toast to Life - Rain sounds good on this. That smooth shit. - 4.5/5
9. Lady in a Red Dress - THIS what I'm talking about. Story telling at it's finest. - 5/5
10. Ride - Smooth once again. A lot of these types of joints on this project. This one of the better ones though. - 4.25/5
11. Snow Ft. Big Cas - It's ok. - 3.75/5

12. So Soon We Change - Nottz on the boards. This is classic Hip-Hop. - 5/5
13. It's Alright - 4.5/5
14. Buried With a Secret Ft. K.P. - That classic Rain story telling shit. - 5/5

Overall, 3 classic Rain tracks imo. Maybe the rest will grow on me..the first one did..
