Jay-Z speaks on The Game
« on: July 24, 2009, 05:29:16 AM »
Jay-Z recently appeared on veteran radio personality Tim Westwood’s show in the U.K., where among other topics, he responded to a rumor that he was responsible for shutting down a Chris Brown performance at last month’s BET Awards as well as the anti-Hov campaign Game has launched against him in the last few weeks.

As XXLMag.com previously reported, Game has taken shots at Jay on twitter, on record and on tour ever since the Brooklyn rap giant uttered his name in a freestyle during a concert earlier this month. Yet, none of the darts the Compton MC has thrown seems to be affecting Hov. “Tell me exactly what I said,”Jigga asked Westwood referring to his rhyme. “I said I’m not talking about, this. I’m not…Is that a diss? ‘Oh, you hurt my feelings.’ Tell groupie to get over it…If that’s a diss, then wear that…Tell groupie to get over it.” [Listen here]

Back in June, New York’s Daily News reported that Jay threatened to pull out of the BET Awards if the network would allow for Chris Brown to perform at the show. When Westwood asked him about the rumors, Jay had this to say, “First let me categorically deny that, that’s not even my style. If I have a problem with Chris Brown, I have a problem with Chris Brown. I haven’t said anything -live or behind the scenes.Whatever. I don’t agree with what he did and that’s it. But as far as not letting him perform on BET, that’s just ridiculous, that’s stupid and that’s a sucker move. I wouldn’t do it. And people commenting on rumors, that’s a sucker move.”

Jay also spoke on his first official single, “Run This Town” from his long-awaited new album, The Blueprint 3. “It’s called Run This Town because we basically run the town,” he explained before previewing a verse from the track. “And it’s myself, Rihanna and Kanye.” Prior to previous reports it will not feature Toronto upstart Drake.

Westwoods’s full interview with the Roc Boy is scheduled to air this Saturday at 4 p.m. EST. The Blueprint 3 is set for release on September 11. –Max G

both game and jay-z are over-rated - i'd say Game is the better spitter now but in 1995-96 when Reasonable Doubt came out Jay then was better than Game at his best
