Report: Victor Martinez to the BoSox

Rpt: Red Sox get Victor Martinez

The New York Post is reporting that the Boston Red Sox have traded for all-star catcher Victor Martinez of the Cleveland Indians.

The Red Sox can use Martinez as a catcher, first baseman and DH. When he plays first, Kevin Youkilis will move to third, spelling Mike Lowell.

In effect, Martinez gives the Red Sox protection against regressions by Lowell, catcher Jason Varitek and designated hitter David Ortiz.

this whole halladay thing is a bit confusing.  id like to know what your GM was thinking....halladays highest trade value was before the deadline.  if he gets traded in the offseason, the haul will be less than what it yall would of got now.  unless you guys make some moves to contend in 2010, he should of been dealt.

Halladay ain't coming back...Jays aren't getting ANYTHING for their best player because he will sign with a contender since he'll be a free agent in 2010. And the Bosox, Yanks, and Rays will continue dumping all over them now.
