this was a great movie because John Carpenter shows how the society was and is and will become in the future.  Genius.  Shows that people need to wake up.

i've watched this movie quite a few times in the last few years. classic, way ahead of its time. carpenter always said you could sneak in more real messages when working in genres that aren't taken so seriously. his movies warrant close attention.
