Arsenal issue damning criticism of Uefa

Arsenal have issued a stinging criticism of Uefa's decision to ban Eduardo for two Champions League matches.

In a statement released today, Arsenal said European's ruling body had failed to properly study the available video evidence, and were inconsistent in delivering a "deeply flawed" judgment. The club confirmed that it would appeal against the ban.

The statement read: "The club is in receipt of Uefa's reasoned decision in relation to the charge against Eduardo. We strongly believe that the decision taken is deeply flawed and not based on any forensic review of the video evidence available. There are obvious errors and inconsistencies in Uefa's judgment and we intend to appeal."

Eduardo was punished for diving to win a penalty in the 3-1 victory over Celtic at the Emirates Stadium last week. The Croatia international fell to the ground despite appearing to make no contact with Artur Boruc, the Celtic goalkeeper.

Arsenal are understood to put across their case by submitting a 19-page report to Uefa. Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, said Uefa had carried out a "witch-hunt" and created a dangerous precedent with their decision.

Eduardo is due to miss the club's opening two Champions League group matches, away at Standard Liege on September 16 and the home encounter with Olympiacos on September 29.

LMAO @ arsenal asking a forensic review of the video  :D

Yup, but its unlikely many sides would.
