With today's release of Warren G's The G-Files, the West Coast rap veteran kicked back with SOHH to discuss his latest effort and why there are significantly fewer guest features than previous LPs.
According to Warrren, the rapper's rushed schedule and independent label distribution partially played a part in him not being able to snag all the features he would have liked.
"Well, when you're doing independent records, it's kinda hard to reach out to people that you really wanna reach out to because a lot of these cats, I may not know 'em but I may respect their work," G explained. "But when you get at 'em, you go through their managers and all that sh*t and end up being like, 'Okay, we'll we're gonna charge you 50 to 70,000 [dollars] and I'm not getting ready to do that. But then, it's a lot of artists who's vets in the game like a Kanye West, a Jay-Z, if I get at them, those guys'll come get down. But I didn't have enough time to reach out to these guys and time enough to close the record, the company was on my head, so I went ahead and worked with the people I had which was Raekwon, Travis Barker -- Ray J."

Knoc-turn'al was supposed to be on the album as well but the date came when Warren had to turn his album in before he could get Knoc on there. The song was done too.
