^ yeah was of course gonna be hard to better or even match doggystyle and alot of ppl were saying that he was nothing without dre.
Guess Tupac had stolen the spot light from Snoop a bit also. Didnt help taht it took like 3 years to come out so there were multiple reasons why the expectations were so high.

Sounds like Detox doesn't it.  I betchu Detox will be Dr. Dre's "DoggFather".  mark my words on that.

The beats were decent, but he had no passion behind his rhymes on there. then again snoop hasnt had that passion for a long time, but he was even more uninspired at the time. I think Snoop was unhappy at Death Row, he was unhappy that Dre wasn't there to work with, he was unhappy that 2Pac had taken his spot and then of course 2Pac died. I'm sure Snoop would've been a bit shook with the drama's of being a Death Row affiliate because as we saw with 2Pac, being affiliated with the label could cause you death in the streets.

I think even Snoop said he was very unhappy at the time of Dogg Father

Ultimately its a decent album, esp if you like old school 90's Death Row. But, like every Snoop album, they pale in comparison to Doggystyle

Ditto, I second that. My jam is "Sixx Minutes".

Doggfather is a dope album. The only thing wrong with it is the fact that it followed Doggystyle.

The problem with doggfather is that it followed doggystyle and sound wise was nothing like it.

a great album...but overall a little too funky and friendly...no gangsta hooks...and some of the hardest songs  became dpg family songs "blueberry , goldrush"
and goldrush has a great beat but allways put me to sleep...shits boring
but like i said its still a very good album......actually its one of the albums i can listen to from the beging to end not just one but 2 or 3 times in a row

I love throwin in Tha Doggfather every once n awhile. It's great not listenin' to classsic albums for a while then comin' back to 'em. They sound even better when ya ain't peeped 'em out in a while.

Yup there's definitely some bangers on this album, only a few tracks I wasn't feeling that much, pretty solid album considering the amount of hate it gets

how many people are actually hating on it though, that's what i'm wondering.
