OB4CL 2 best Wu-album since Supreme Clientele?
« on: October 20, 2009, 04:02:07 AM »
Raekwon's OB4CL 2 is praised and considered as a classic, the best album of the Wu since Ghost released Supreme Clientele.

It is a good album indeed, but I don't understand that people forget so much other great albums from the Wu over the past few years. They are not maybe not 100% classics, but it are real good albums at least.

Masta Killa - No Said Date + Made In Brooklyn => classic Wu Sound and featuring the whole clan
GZA - Legend of the Liquid Sword + Grandmasters w/ DJ Muggs => good albums with a lot of good cuts imo. Pro Tools is an album that I actually like less (but critics praised this too)
Method Man - 4:21 The Day After => strong comeback solo album after the real weak Tical 0

What ya'll think?

i agree...i think Rae might just've saved the Wu with this album the way that people say Ghost did when he released Supreme Clientele...

While OB4CL 2 is dope as hell, there's one annoying downside to the album.. I'm surprised it hasn't been discussed.. intro adlibs on most of the tracks.

Word up son, uhh huh, yeah, stop playin, what up nigga, it's real, what up god, I see you man, ay yo, yo, what you know about it?, bitch ass niggaz!, yeah!, oh man, this the real, check this shit, ay yo ay yo, fo real though, talk to these niggaz, you know how it go, real rhyming, just chillin, whuddup bitches, let's go, big dog shit, come on now, ya niggaz crazy, the god is back, ay yo ay yo...

Straight crackhead mumbling.. a simple "Ay yo" before the track would be sufficient, and make the album sound better & more intelligent.

Ha ha Jome good post. You're right about that, plus I also thought the album gets monotone after a while, his flow could have more variety in correlation with the beat selection. Still a great album though, some great storytelling.

:) funny but true! I guess they had to compensate with the lack of skits/interludes

+ the backcover has lay-out mistakes + not mentioning the feature of Busta Rhymes

+ the album has 22 tracks, some of which are very short (Dr Dre produced a song of only 2:49 min)

But still: dope as hell idd

It's better than Supreme Clientele, IMO (amazing album, but it doesn't have the cohesive sound as OBFCLII). I would say this is the best Wu album since Forever.

Not a fan of Raekwon.   Him and Rick Ross are the same in my book.

I prefer Masta Killa's releases.

Chamber music and this get weekly play from me for sure! Meth and Red dont get as much as at first and have stopped playing the UGOD release finally. This year has been a winner for Wu. Cant wait for Chamber Music 2 if its still on the cards  8)
