Christmas on Death Row is what death row rnb could have been....
« on: November 28, 2009, 12:16:04 AM »
Just heard it for the first time, and it is surprisingly excellent. Of course the singing is excellent, but the musicianship is also surprisingly good. This is very ungeneric rnb actually... makes me think of what death row's rnb collection sounds like, cuz from what i heard, theres just a shitload of it. like piles and piles of rnb records from them....

How do other people feel about this album though??

the songs were good but some of them were too slow 4 me...but 4 rnb listeneners it should be no problem.
and like 99% of yall think NOT ONLY RAP-TRACKS were good. check out guesss songs, sixx feet deep and 816 songs were tight too..like i said some of them were too slow but it was quality rŽnŽb..
Guess(s)-Christmas Everyday (SICK BEAT).

cant wait 2 hear: b-rezell, guesss, b.g.o.t.i, sixx feet deep, hugg and many more.

One of the worst soundtracks that Death Row released, never really liked it except for "Santa Claus Goes Straight To Ghetto".

BGOTI debuted like three years too early, because they could have been pushed ala Destiny's Child. Between them, Nate Dogg, Sixx Feet Deep, Danny Boy, Michel'le, Jewell, and B-Rezzel, they had a really decent R&B stable. Once again, its a shame Suge was locked up because I think had he not gone to jail, the R&B side of Death Row would have gotten more attention.

Great album. That's why I'm waiting for more R'n'B-style tracks from WideAwake - like for example Danny Boy's album. "Be Thankful" is IMO one of the best Nate Dogg's tracks ever  8)

yea, I'd definitely put Be Thankful up there with Nate's top tracks.

Also, Danny Boy's cover of 'This Christmas' is actually my favorite version of that song. He gives a really good interpretation of the song...

Most of this album has a really good groove to it, and what strikes me is that it grooves differently from most rnb I've heard. The rnb from death row had a distinct sound to it, and no it was just rnb g-funk-ized, it had a distinct musical style, which is why i wanna hear the rest of it...
