im pretty much only talking about the production. the SH album wasn't great in terms of the beats at all.

and re-releases/relits don't count. just new music :P

SH had some great beats on it

the one, cuckoo, sound off, salute me, cut you loose etc.

Nah it didnt. Production let it down big time

i would agree, but seriously; what else has dropped as competition?

good point, but i'd like to see anyone who disagrees making a case for presumably another album that sounds better. the sound quality on blaqkout far surpasses anything else this year.

the lack or complete absence of alternatives in this thread pretty much proves the point.

There was some nice production on Blaqkout, but there was also weak production. The Madlib album was far better sounding.

i've always been more of a "banger" guy than a "smooth" guy & even though it had a few bangers; Relapse had some great production.

but for pure sound, it might be Blaqout.

i'm still noticing new sounds every time i listen to this cd. it definitely comes down to musical preference, but if you wanna hear something crisp, clean and funky sounding then there isn't any competition.

relapse might be a good comparison because it is pretty much produced entirely by a WC producer, but i don't think dre really pushed the envelope on there. it didn't have the warmth/life/bounce to it that the best stuff on blaqkout did 8)

like I said before, Madlib's tribute to dilla is way better than Blaqkout.

Well. It's the west coast release I enjoyed more than the others.

I wanted to buy the CD first, but I instead listened to a leak of it and quickly put it on my iPod  then I bought myself a copy (I also embedded that into my iPod as well since it's quality was higher than the leak ;D)
I had that shit on repeat all day. After a few weeks it lost it's replay value. But I enjoyed it. 8)
