It depends on how he uses it, if it goes with the concept of the song. Classic examples; namedropping on Game's Pain was on point (on of my fav. singles of 08), the name dropping on My Life was way too random for a introspective track about his life.

When used properly there's nothing wrong with it like Game's Pain or on The Documentary (the song and even the album).  Everything else though it pretty lame.  There was no good reason to name drop Rihanna on Letter to the King.

In my opinion, it's not creative.  It's corny.  It's stupid.  It doesn't add anything.  You just name checked a popular r&b artist who isn't original or creative (just a a product of the machine).  She's most likely just a fad.  What did the song gain by adding that?  Nothing.  If he had name dropped someone who actually experienced some struggle it would make sense. (and up to this point in her career it was not publicly know she had not been beaten on.)   

I've long ago accepted Game is an average lyricists.  Some time he steps up and shines but mostly he isn't anything spectacular.  There's nothing wrong with that.  I still enjoy the majority of his music.  You don't have to be a dope lyricists to be a dope artist.  He's better than some, worst than others.  It's his flaw, recognise it and move on.  I don't see why people still have thsi conversation.

A certain 2pac used to name drop at times quite a bit, i actually dont have a problem with it because its almost an identification of game now, that he name drops. When its excessive its too much but if he just droppin a fun track and he name drops in it, i dont have a problem with it. Does it add anything to the song? No, but nor would just a normal song if the song aint serious. So i have no problem with it. Again if he name drops on a serious song or through anger about someone, like the 50cent shit, it makes sense and comes off dope...kinda like on DA but when he just name droppin to name drop cuz he cant come up with a line, then its when people dont like it, to me it dont bother me, its just a filler line, like eminem saying 'peach plums pears and oranges' or someshit back in the day or just another stupid line, but like people won't like that, it'll be the same with a game line.

Overall though, games a dope rapper, nothin special as a lyricist but there aint many who are. Aslong as he puts out dope music, i won't hate. He come good twice in three, so im all for another album...if he flops in terms of music on this, then i'll loose interest like i have with other cats.
