When used properly there's nothing wrong with it like Game's Pain or on The Documentary (the song and even the album). Everything else though it pretty lame. There was no good reason to name drop Rihanna on Letter to the King.
'Like Father, Like Son' was the only time I thought this shit was wack, only the shit at the end of the 3rd verse though.And On 'My Life'. Like what the fuck is The Beatles. 'Why did John Lennon have ta leave The Beatles?' Who gives a fuck. What does that have to do wit anythang. Other than that, it's all good in the hood. He says a few unnecessary stupid shit in a bar where them name drops don't belong, but regardless of them few ill thangs, like someone else said, it's son's style.
because it takes less talent? Its a lot easier to borrow someone else's name and classic lines rather than come up with your own quotables
In my opinion, it's not creative. It's corny. It's stupid. It doesn't add anything.
