My Thought's On The New Sn00P
« on: November 24, 2002, 05:26:29 PM »
Well...I've listened through the album a few times, and it is his most diverse solo album...but it is also is second worst album too.   :-\

Yea, I think his Doggystyle All-Stars compilation is better than this...and there was nothing special at all on that album as well.

The first single is wack...I cannot stand it.  The best song on here might just be "Beautiful," and I hate to say that cause the chorus sucks.  "Stop Light" is a bad opener and those 2 intros could of been merged into one.

I like Fredwreck's impression of "Addictive" using Traci Nelson by having her "howl" in the background.  The percussion he used also sound like a wannabe "Addictive."  Although, I do like Snoop'd rhymes and flow on that song.

My favorite song is prolly "Wasn't Your Fault," and I've been bumpin this since the summer.

IMO "Tha Last Meal" was much better.

I love Snoop, and I use to anticipate his shit so much, now it's just like, "eah."

3.5/5

It's good to see you can say that about your favorite artist.

I just remember he came @ us with "Topp Dogg," and it was like Snoop's gettin bavk into the game.  He came full circle with "Last Meal" and it was banged out.  Now...he has gone a step down.  Maybe cause there is no Dre...but this album is very bumpy.

I think his best raps come on "Pimp Slapp'd," and that sure does sound like a freestyle if listen to some parts.

Another thing is...whatever I'm feeling on this album...the beat...or the hook, 9/10 it is not Snoop.  I'm either feeling a Fredwreck beat or a Latoiya Williams hook, which is sad...cause this is Snoop's album.  His verses are just not powerfull, meaningful or catchy...so they get overlooked easily by the beats and hooks.

I'm not mad one bit there isn't any Dre production.  I doubt it would of helped this album.  And Daz hasn't been on a Snoop album since '96 so no one should be surprised.  Yeah, I gotta agreew ith "Lolipop" being tight...if ya listen to the effects Just Blaze uses...they sound identical to the ones Dre used on "True Lies."

Yea... well, I look at it like this... we're Westcoast fans, we love shit from the westcoast... and we want to see him return that westcoast sound, however that sound won't help Snoop with his success, so he is going to do his best to get back to the commercial audience, and I think he will do that with this album... I think this album is more about the commercial audience than it is his own audience, the people who check him out daily...

Snoop rips most of these tracks...I don't know what muthafuckas are listening to but his lyrics and flow are what makes this album...The beats are maybe not as good but "Beautiful" is as good a song as any Snoop has done since Doggystyle...That song will most definitely blow up this album...
