Michael Jackson King of Pop Music
« on: January 24, 2010, 01:06:10 PM »
just been bumping some of the Dangerous LP. damn this is an incredible record, definitely one of the best recorded pop albums ever. definitely begun to appreciate MJ's own input on a lot of the production process after reading some crazy stories from ex engineers and stuff.

in terms of todays 'swagger' the sound of MJ on records is not even on the scale 8)

'Will You Be There' is one of my favorite joints by him, man. That track alone is epic. ;D

Def. agree it's an incredible record though.

Dangerous was superb. Teddy Riley killed on the beats on that LP. Some great tracks there.

i will dig out the stories from MJ engineers when i can, its real interesting. how MJ was meticulous when it came to drum sounds and they would spend countless resources trying to find the best drums and drum sounds to use on his records.

has teddy riley ever produced anything on the level of his work on dangerous? i think MJ has a lot of influence on the finished sound cause his most of his records sound stellar from top the bottom, whoever is producing.

i hate the people who hate this king for what he did to kids...and not what for he did for muzik

pop music is a narrow enough context anyway. i have always fully enjoyed and appreciated MJ within the context of the work itself :bandit:

MJ/Quincy Jones for the best stuff

but in very recent history Dangerous is still the best pop album post 1990. i don't hear any other contenders. Timbaland/Danja may have done a few nice things 8)

but still no vocalists anywhere close to touching MJ

Yeah Dangerous is amazing.  But speaking of MJ I have to admit, "Invincible" was ahead of its time. Its the only MJ album that I had never listened to (with the exception of "Rock My World") prior to his death. But after give it a few listens I purchased a hard copy for the ride. Shit is really a beautiful piece of work give or take 2-3 out-of-place songs. But I recommend everyone listen to "Whatever Happens".
