my condolences, I'd say something to cheer you up but I know it won't work
thanks I did like what the GM said the other day in his press conference about acquiring a front line starter via trade so lets seebut the offense was inconsistent as hell too they have to clean that up
Via Trade?? What.. the big market Mets don't have enough money to just go buy a front line starter in Free Agency. btw.. did you see what happened to your guy Seth Lugo. People kept saying to trade him because they didn't believe the Royals were good enough to make the playoffs this year. Well they signed him to a big contract at the trade deadline--he pitched one good game after that and then got bombed in his next several starts and finished the year on the DL.I hope it was just some injury and that they are able to salvage something out of his contract the next few years. Reminds me of a guy we signed when Yardano Ventura died--Ian Kennedy. Same money and same years and same result. So far looks like a bad signing.
the problem is there arent any aces available this offseason on the FA market...we need to get someone significant like a Paul Skeenes who is under team control for about 4 more years until he hits free agencyyeah Lugo might have been a bad signing...first off he is like 35 now and went from a guy who threw about 90 innings a year in relief to leading the league in IP a few years ago...you have him for a couple of more years right? I wouldn't write him off just yet but he may be on the downsideyeah I remember Ian Kennedy...he had a few good seasons in the NL I believe he won 20 games one year and then the Royals got him and he struggled...I think they made him a closer towards the end too
I’m impressed that you remember Ian Kennedy and even more impressed that you remember him being moved to the bullpen with the Royals. Only a true MLB fan would know about a move to the bullpen on a team that didn’t even post a winning record 7 or so years ago.But yeah he ended up being a good closer but it was too little too late because the tragic death of Yardano Ventura meant that he was being asked to fill Yardano’s shoes and keep our team at a championship level for one more year. Royals actually had two more cracks at it with Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer and most the championship roster on 16’ and 17’ — but in 16’ Gordo and Moose collided on a bloop to short left and both were need up on the injured list effectively ending our season and in 17’ the worst trade nobody talks about was Davis for Jorge Soler— Soler his sub .200 the season we needed him and then hit over 40 meaningless bombs (breaking a royals record) in a later rebuilding year.Just to finish my rant that 17’ season they kept trading again and again pillaging our future and farm system to replace Davis because Jaokim Soria fell apart and every other releiver we tried to get suddenly forgot how to pitch. We still had so much talent that we did compete and it was a fun year but ultimately ended the season several games out of the postseasonAnd what became of Davis?? He was amazing for the cubs or Rockies or whoever it was he went to that guy was unhittable for like 5 years from 2013 - 2018
