this is so lame
e-40 riding this dudes nuts hard lol

who is redrum ?
Do you guys not read what people say?  Redrum is from Avenue Piru, definitely an OG... best known for his contributions to Bangin' on Wax, particularly the song Piru Love, which is still a classic.  I still bump it from time to time.  As Tanner stated, he was on Death Row's roster.  He actually was the source for another variant of Pac's handwritten Makaveli tracklist, and he also had the handwritten lyrics for the album version of To Live & Die in L.A., as the lyrics that we had seen before that were the handwritten lyrics for the CLEAN version, which originally showed up in an older issue from VIBE.

After watching the video, I think E-40 should've used a better metaphor than the "sea crabs" one, haha...

U noticed how he said I don't bang I'm neutral after that? lol
He should've said crabs in the barrel not no damn sea crabs especially after Redrum said it before.

Kurupt returned like in like early 2002, because he was dead fucking broke. He owed child support in the hundreds of thousands, Daz and Snoop Dogg weren't paying him, and on top of that he had the mobsters at fucking Antra forcing debt on his back. So, Suge broke him off with bread and got him out of his previous contracts. Then he came to Death Row Records as V.P. as well as a solo artist and left in 2005.

nah but then kurupt returned right?
1997 wasnt the mag cover wit suge, east, crooked etc...was it?

Kurupt left mid 1997 to form Antra with those Philly mobsters. Daz left 1997, but returned in 1998 because of a massive failure. Snoop left late 1997 as well because Suge basically allowed him to go to Master P's shit while getting paid. Whether Snoop realizes it, Suge saved his career in a way because he could have just kept him in artist purgatory.

that was around the time kurupt was over there right when he wasnt down wit daz/snoop etc...?

All these rappers airing out their problems on the net look like fools. Bring back Jerry Springer!

Redrum was signed to Death Row from 1996 - 1998 or 1999. He was up there with Bloody Mary and all them. 2Pac had mad respect for him as well.

Didn't know that.

Not that I know of, because Redrum I assume was focusing on other things and Kurupt wasn't in the best position himself. Plus, Redrum had already been on Tha Row and Suge didn't want to get anything done while he was there. So, I am going to assume no. However, there's been various instances which lead to Redrum approaching Kurupt now, like when he told Game not to sign him to Black Wall Street even though Redrum didn't want anything to do with them. Lol.

I did notice that, but it doesn't change anything.  It wasn't the best metaphor to use.  That's all I'm saying.

Ah, I didn't know he was broke because of THAT.  Child support is no joke, there is a specific division of the FBI that hunts down people for it.  But seeing how Suge handled that for him (which probably involved him unloading a couple hundred Gs), did Suge really get a return on his investment?  Probably not.

Thing is, Redrum wasn't even trying to get signed over there. So, he's basically going from place to place telling people not to sign Redrum. Lol. @DeezNuuuts83, it's more like a few million when it came down to it, because Kurupt still had to be bought out of the Antra contract as well as have his other debts paid. Lol.

It really cost that much to get Kurupt released from his old contractual obligations?  Shit.  I would've thought it would've been less, as I believe all of his albums released before he went back to Death Row (Kuruption!, Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha and Space Boogie: Smoke Odyssey) were all certified gold.  That actually sucks for Suge that he actually bailed Kurupt out like that and never really made the money back.  I remember back when that happened, Daz was on the DPG Recordz website saying shit about Kurupt having been kidnapped or something and taken to New York.

I suppose, but Crooked I had a lot of buzz at the time, even before Kurupt rejoined.  I don't doubt that Suge willingly helped Kurupt, it seemed like he was actually one of the few ex-Death Row artists who left on a non-negative note.  However, I'm sure Suge probably figured it would be a huge statement to have pulled in Kurupt in the midst of some bad blood with Snoop and Daz, more so than having some popular artist back on his side.

They did have a chance, even before Kurupt came back.  Granted Crooked I's mainstream appeal was limited, but he was good enough to have a fan base and to get some shine.  The problem was Suge delaying stuff, for whatever reason.  Crooked said it himself, Say Hi to the Bad Guy was completed and ready to go, but Suge convinced him to be cool with the album getting shelved for a new album (that Suge was "involved" in, as it would be after his release from prison), which started a chain reaction of stuff getting halted left and right, along with various people in the industry wanting to blackball him.  A lot of people were anxiously waiting for Death Row's return at that time... too bad they never took advantage of it.
