2pac ft. Fatal & Papoose - Dumpin: from Pac's Life (Audio)
« on: April 20, 2010, 10:23:06 AM »
I just wanted to touch on this track because its really the one song that shines (Other than the quality version of Soon As I Get Home) on the catastrophe that was Pac's Life.

The beat is perfect and the hook is right (Who is that? Carl Thomas?). This has always been one of the better Pac verses IMO in terms of the way he just flows so flawlessly.

The funny thing is as good as Pac's verse was Fatal stepped up on verse 2 like he had something to prove and he absolutely killed it. One of the few times I'd actually say an Outlaw may have outshined Pac on a track. Granted Fatal had about 15 years to get that verse together but regardless.

Anyways, after Pac and Fatal slaughtered the track, Papoose didn't really stand a chance. I almost feel bad for Pap on this one because dude is skilled, but he just couldn't even compete on this one.

Check it out in case you missed it:

Thats your opinion, I think this is one the few times the posthumous production was better than the original.

I agree that this is one of the few standout tracks from the "Pac's Life" album.  Also agree that Fatal's verse was great too.  He was in rare form on this one.  I also liked "Don't Stop (The Music)" and "Untouchable."  But I agree that most of the album was overly-commercialized crap.  Had I had the opportunity to hear the o.g. of "Untouchable" before this one, I don't know if I'd even have liked the "Pac's Life" version , but it was cool to finally get to hear Khadafi's verse on there.

I don't know if I'd say that one is better than the other.  The retail beat is definitely worth bumping, but the OG beat is still pretty dark (in a gansta kind of way), though I always liked the Gonzoe verse and also Kurupt's verse (though he ended up re-using it on Loc'd Out Hood on the Gang Related soundtrack).  But don't get me wrong, Fatal's verse is pretty dope (and peppered with Blood references haha), though I would've liked Pac's extra lines to have been included (the ones where it ends with "East Coast nigga rushin'" or something).

Soon as I Get Home
Playa Cards Right (male Version) (got some good UK radio play this one)
Playa Cards Right (female) (as a B-Side)

Rest of the album sucked, but then what you expect from UTEOT & BD remix cuts

^ Yeah, that's the one.  The beat was decent, but it's not like Young Assassins was that great of a group.  I didn't like the fact that Pac's verse was all the way at the end, or how they replaced Pac's "West Side, Death Row, Outlaw riders" line with YA going "Y.A., Dogg Pound riders" or whatever they said.
