Just got back from slaughterhouse and pharoahe monch tonight
« on: April 23, 2010, 03:52:48 AM »
Amazing concert,Im happy I got to see pharoahe,he stole the show for me with his performance, his hypeman showtyme is an unbelievable singer. The energy was crazy and when he did simon says the whole club got torn down.Crooked did a cool lil freestyle and including shit from the crowd and the city so it was nice to see it was actually an off the dome freestyle.I was right at the front of the stage the whole time, this guy tried on three separate occasions to try to come from the back and push me out of the way to get in front,i kept pushing him back but he wouldnt stop.So I finally snapped and turned around elbowed him in the jaw then pushed down and he got the message lol.And there was some fucking dimes in the audience.

Monch needs to release another album.  Desire was a damn near classic.  The singer/hypeman is showtyme you're talking about, right?

Yeah, Pharoahe puts on a great fuckin show..

His DJ is crazy on the boards too, he had a 3 minute solo scratching and mixing when I went to see his show, crazy.

lucky bastard, I missed Slaughterhouse when they came to New Haven last summer for no reason (long story)

yeah I hear Crooked I is always great at the shows... and Jay I don't mean to ask you this or take a jab cuz you're a Budden fan but how was dude at the show? my boy who was at their show here basically told me that Crooked I was the nicest, Royce was good, Joell was weak when he freestyled and Joe was the "cocky" one on stage takin' his shirt off and shit lol

Budden wasnt there,he couldnt make the show for some reason they didnt say.But crooked I had missed half the other dates in canada and seeing as crooked I is my favourite artist I had no problem with the switch off lol.I did see slaughterhouse at rock the bells and budden was enjoyable, him and joell ortiz always have funny back and forths and stage, their funny guys if youve ever watched joebuddentv with the two of them.Budden is an outspoken, confident, cocky guy and thats where the love and hate comes from with him.People either love him or hate him their doesnt seem to be a middle ground.

All three were solid performers i wouldnt say any of them stood above any other.Royce did boom and he did an acapella of that new verse he did from the song on fire.Joell did hip hop.

It was kinda funny I saw them arrive and literally as soon as they got there royce walked over to the bar and grabbed a full bottle of patron and went and sat down and started drinking lol, then crooked grabbed a bottle of grey goose.

To say Desire is a "near classic" is quite an audacious claim, but Pharoahe's albums are always solid. He's released nothing but great music his whole career but he's still yet to top the material he was dropping with Organized Konfusion in the early to mid 90s. And thats nothing to be ashamed of because the first two OK albums are superb.

I agree with desire being a near classic,I loved that album, and critically it was given great reviews.Heavily slept on album, people were just mad he wasnt spitting on every track, but he tried something different and it worked amazingly.

Dont get me wrong, it was a good album and I enjoyed it, but just wouldnt say it was a near classic by any stretch of the imagination.
