well Royce likes to call himself the King of Detroit, so... but skill wise I gotta give it to Elzhi. Preface was a better album than Street Hop, and El killed 5'9 on Motown 25, imo

Royce is the king of Detroit.

But that doesnt mean Elzhi isnt dope. On Motown 25 Elzhi had a lil better verse but Royce's verse was dope too. Imo Street Hop & The Preface are both about 4.5mic albums. Their styles are a bit different though.. I believe Elzhi is supposed to be on Bar Exam 3 


And btw, Royce's had a better verse on "Royal Flush"...

I don't agree with that statement. 

While I think The Preface is near a classic, I can take a collection of tracks from Royce's catalogue on par if not arguably better than it.

I got love for them both so on that note

well clearly if you get to pick and choose his best tracks and ignore the bad ones...  you can do that for anyone and say the same thing

Come on, son, you said it was better than his catalogue and so I responded to that comment.  But, I digress, I do agree that The Preface is a better album than Royce has created to date.

El skill-wise but Royce has the flow and venom at times that I want to hear... I would love to listen to Royce rap the Preface he would make it ten times less boring by the way he would rap the same things... El def has talent and lyrics but his voice puts me off a bit other wise it would be him hands down... If you take into account sales and popularity as well as skill and lyrics and charisma then it has to be Nickle 9!

royce has a better flow and his lyrics are on par. i mean elzhi might be TECHNICALLY better but thats like saying steve vai is best guitarist ever cause he can play really fast.  royce just sounds better, elzhi is great though.
