Daz is holding Kurupt back...
« on: June 04, 2010, 11:29:08 AM »
I think Kurupt should be done with the Dogg Pound, and gangsta rap overall.  It's outdated (but if Snoop can rap perfectly about it then it won't be- he's the only exception haha) and in every new dogg pound song, his verses seem so repetitive with TOO MUCH cussing and rambling.  I think Kurupt should do more "conscious" rapping, like the verses he had in 2 fantastic Hi-tek songs.  Like these 2:

Well anyways, that's just my opinion.  I really think Kurupt is wasting his skills by sticking to gangsta rap and Daz (he's a decent producer but his rapping is subpar but he's not as great as he once was.)

Daz and holding Kurupt back.  Daz is just as dope now IMO.....one of the best groups ever, they sound dope together!  Daz has a better flow now IMO than Kurupt....altho Kurupt HAS been stepping it up lately.

In my opinion Tha Dogg Pound is one of the most consistent groups in hiphop. They're still around bringing us lots of new music. I always look forward to their releases especially as a group, but also as solo acts. No one is holding anyone back.. Have you listened to the new Dogg Pound Gangstaz song? Great track in my opinion. Not as radio friendly as e.g. Drake, but that's not the point... it's the kind of music I like to hear from them. And I think other fans would agree.

Kurupt  was starting to go in to his own when he was still beefing with daz and his music showed aggression, showed drive, show that he wanted it. then daz and kurupt squashed they beef. im cool with that but it seems like since then kurupt has been contempt with his music. like he has a lack of drive, lost his that aggressive edge to want it. like he know he is gonna sell records and make money but his music has been lacking.

Streetlights had no Daz production or appearances. The Quik and Kurupt featured no Daz either. Not to mention the countless other mixtape and YA albums Kurupt has done without Daz.

The only person holding back Kurupt is Kurupt.

I don't see it. Truthfully, I think Daz when he's really on it, can make some great records. I think "Public Enemiez" was the best project he's put out in years. I think collectively, the two of them put out so much material and really just stretch a lot of things out.

LOL what an opposite type thread.  :D
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

Damn the Dogg Pound hate in here is strong.

I'm a for life DPG fan, I think they've changed their styles over the years, but they ain't fell off at all and I'm a strong believer of that.
