VH1 just had their top 100 songs. And by no means is anyone going to have the perfect list.  http://stereogum.com/24391/vh1s_100_greatest_hiphop_songs/list/

But they had one Tupac track "I get Around" -- "Gin and Juice" & "Nuthin But A G Thang" were the only two from the golden era of Death Row to make the cut.  And E-40 and Too Short didn't even make the Top 100.  Too Short is a founder of Hip Hop and has 6 platinums in a row and "Life Is Too Short," "Cocktales," or "Ain't No Bitches," etc. ain't on the list.  You're going to tell me "You Can Do It" and "Friday" aren't Top 100 from Cube?  No WSCG.  No Dogg Pound.  What a joke.  "Nuthin But A G Thang" made the list at #3 (should have been #1) and was beat by Public Enemy.  No "Dre Day" on the Top 100? Pac's got all those classics like "Two of Amerikkaz Most Wanted," "How Do U Want It," "Me Against The World," "Changes," "From The Cradle To The Grave," "Starrin at My World Thru My Rearview," etc. and all he gets is one track and he's the top selling artist of all time?  "Five On It" by Luniz didn't make it?

Did they forget about CMW and MC Eiht "Streight up Menace" was a classic when Menace II Society dropped.  The West ran the 90's and that list didn't give them the type of shine they deserved.

Another note "Gold Digger" by Kanye/Jamie Foxx was #19 and Lil Wayne "The Block Is Hot" at #50 wasn't even a huge song when it came out.  And Chamillionaire

VH-1 has always been behind the times. When that whole era of boy bands was big on MTV, VH1 was airing 80s music. Hip Hop was too Underground for VH1 back then now its grown too big for them to ignore it. But you cant rely on them for hip hop knowledge.

Quote
99 Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz ft/ Ying Yang Twins – “Get Low”
97 Eve – “Who’s that Girl”
91 Chamillionaire ft. Krayzie Bone – “Ridin’”
89 Cam’ron – “Oh Boy”
68 T.I. – “What You Know”
58 Ludacris ft. Shawna- “What’s Your Fantasy”
50 Lil’ Wayne – “Tha Block Is Hot”
36 Nelly – “Hot In Herre”
20 Kanye West ft/ Jamie Foxx – “Gold Digger”
16 Missy Elliott – “Get Ur Freak On”

Seriously? I like all these songs, but I wouldn't even put these in a top 200.
